Hello...I've just found this place!
I'm Jenny, I live in South East Wales. 3 children....2 grown up and a small noisy child who's 6.....and a grand daughter who's 4.
I've just applied for DLA....fingers crossed. Its taken a while for my doctor to believe there is anything wrong with me. I had a sort of stroke 2 years ago and I was paralysed down one side. Some movement has come back but not all. I have a lot of joint pain and stiffness. I've had an MRI and that didn't show anything so my neurologist is a bit baffled. Physio and hydro have helped a bit but not much.
My husband walked out on me a year after this happened....he didn't believe me either. He called me a lazy fat cow...so does his (married) girlfriend.
I have a boyfriend in Manchester (173 miles away) who is great, very understanding....but a long way away.
I have a huge lack of self confidence, I've been battling with depression and I find it very difficult to leave the safety of the house. I fell over a year ago and broke my arm in 2 places.
Daisy please add me to your list.
Well, we are all here for you hun.
I had my first cancer, of the colon, when I was 19, before I met my husband.
2 weeks after I was diagnosed with an agressive for of cancer in my left breast, and given about 2 months maximum to live, my husband of twelve years told me that he wasn't going to hang around watch me die, he would rather get on with his new life now!!!So I had absolutely no support from him. I discovered a couple of years later that he had never told any of his work collegues or his family and our friends that I had cancer. He shouted at me if I even said the word!
Well, I had a radical mastectomy of the left breast and cancerous lymph nodes followed buy three months of daily Radiotherapy and 2 years of Chemotherapy which they had to keep starting and stopping as all my immune system was destroyed and they then weny on to try experimental Chemo sessions. Then the cancer came back in the right breast I had another mastectomy, but nothing elase after as traetment.
All through my treatment I was treated to daily psychological abuse from my husband, (why are you still here, you are in everybody's way, you have destroyed my life, why don't you get rid of yourself, etc etc)
I think the fact that I kn ew he wanted me "gone" kept me fighting the cancer, I would show him!!
So, I am still here, fingers crossed.
I finally managed to go back to my career which has taken me all over the world, but at the same time I was fighting depression and being so so tired. My company never realised that I had cancer, I said that I was taking 2 years off for research, and they were fine with that.
Finally the M.E, pain from the Fibro, IBS, debilitating migranes, osteo arthritis and the reconstruction on my right foot all the got the better of me..
In the oncology department at the hospital they tell me that 9 out of 10 husbands leave their wives when they have cancer, but that 10 out of 10 wives stay and look after their husband.
I have had no contact from my family for some years: I had the very unpleasant experience of when I was staying with them for a few days of hearing a couple of them saying with disgust and derision "Oh my God, is she still in bed!!!, she's allways there, why doesn't she get up the lazy thing!!!!" I even had them banging manically on my door and shreiking with laughter, "Get up you lazy , cow"
THEY have never contacted me since in any form or any way ( I never mentioned whay I had overheard)
So as I have said, mine is a very, very lonely world.
So, Jenny I know how it feels to be abandoned by the one you thought you could depend on.
It sounds as if youv'e got a lovely chap now.
So fingers crossed for you.:smileyheaMagenta0 -
Hi Horace,
Is it you who has the teddies?
If so where did you get them from please?
I imagine they are the ones that you can heat up in the microwave.
Hugs,

Hi Daisy,
I asked to join at the beginning of the opening of the cafe, and my first post was after Pink Fairys, so as she is number 11, I thought I would have been number 12.. I also sent you PM to ask for my membership number..
I notice that I have also had some posts deleted. I am totally puzzled??? Am I person non mentis!!!!!!! Am still not on the list.:smileyheaMagenta0 -
Oh dear Magenta, I am so sorry - you are on the list now. I don't know what happened to your posts - but I do know that a Troll posted just after you and made some nasty comments about people who are a bit tired, which I had removed. I wonder if your posts were removed accidentally?
Ho hum.... never mind, you are here now, and
VERY WELCOME :jFor anyone else who wants to be a member of the crocks club and feels overlooked - please just shout at me.....I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0 -
Afternoon all.
Just been reading through the posts placed after I went yesterday, and I'd just like to say to Magenta, Jenn, and anyone else who's feeling a bit lonely or down, Friends are the family you choose for yourself!
I'm totally estranged from my blood relatives, also had a very poor deal from ex- not-so-DH, but am now happily married to a marvellous man. And having somewhere like this cafe to visit makes life bearable when he's at work and I can't do much on my own.
Daisy, I do a lot of RPG type games such as Baldur's Gate and Oblivion on the PC, so I'm an expert at killing Trolls, just send 'em my way!:D
Was it Wildflower who mentioned being an Ice Cream Monster? I make pretty good home made bananana ice cream - shall I bring some in?:p
Hot coffee and a slice of carrot cake, if I may, please (oh dear, I'm predictable - I have that every day!):DIf your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Grrrrr to insensitive OHs (can we dispose of them along with the Rats and the Trolls!), huge pots of soup and stew simmering away (brrr - I'm cold!), just trying to track down a supplier of ferrules for my crutches as the ones from Timpsons last about 5 mins!
Jacket potatoes and hot chocolate fudge cake (with cream or ice cream or both!) any one?Do not meddle in the affairs of Dragons, for thou art crunchy and good with catsup

Hi Magenta
I have a battered old bear that was given to me before I was born but other than that he is the only one I have here with me - my only other one is a huge white fluffy thing with blue eyes and red velvet pads (Theodore) and he lives on my old bed in my parents house. I don't have any microwavable ones as that would be too cruel.
I am starving but it is too late to make lunch - so if there is a large gooey bun going spare I'll have it (puts some virtual money on the counter).
What a day I have had...stripped the bed and did the washing (now drying nicely behind me), rang Virgin Mobile after virgin media conned me into a new sim card plus the ratbags set up a direct debit without my permission - thankfully it is now cancelled:mad: so I missed my lunch. I completed an assignment that I have had hanging around for several months and I have submitted it to my new tutor - only 5 assignments to go before I get my HND equivalent diploma:j
I had something nice in the post today - details of my grant for self employment via the jobcentre. I will get more money each week:
£15.50 grant
£60.40 JSA
£00.10 Income-based JSA
(I was getting £60.50 week JSA anyway). I had better not spend that grant all at once - s'pose I ought really transfer it to my business bank account:rolleyes:
Hope everyone is having a fab day.0 -
Hello everyone, I'm a bit late in today due to work commitments so can I have whatever's left over in the bun/cake/biscuit line, and a large hot choc with marshmallows to keep me going:T (money on counter, thank you)
Dragon - do you have a Disabled Living Centre near you, they should be able to supply ferrules (usually free if your stick/crutches are supplied on loan), or have you tried Nottingham Rehab, Ways and Means, Homecraft (Google will get you the details, or PM me and I will get them for you)?
If everybody else's cats need a day off from rat/mouse catching I have four  felines who could do with getting off their backsides in a good cause:rotfl:. They take lolling about to the extreme, specially in the cold and wet weather.0 -
