Jaz, they have an option called GrazeNibble- if you go onto your deliveries there should be an option there- which is 4 punnets of dried things, nuts etc, so no fruit to go off. I love the fruit though, I'm going through a phase of actually wanting to eat it which is unusual ;)

Oh, I see! I thought that was just during the postal strikes, glad to see it's now an option.

I've come down with a cold, so feeling crap.

DW and I used to enjoy long walks along the seafront and around the countryside. With my legs having given up the ghost, I thought that was a thing of the past. Now, I can hire a scooter for a charitable donation and we can go back to experiencing one of our favourite passtimes - albeit somewhat altered. Pillaging the hedgerows for wine/beer ingredients is out of the question, but at least we can get out and about now!
Not necessarily, Oscar, if your DW goes with you. Last Autumn, Mr LW and I went out, me on the scooter, and we collected sloes (for sloe gin and wine), elderberries (wine) and cherry-plums (jam) with very little difficulty. Just have your DW do most of the picking - you'll find some at a level you can reach from the scooter also, and have plenty of plastic containers, and/or poly bags to put them in, with you. I found I could help by using one of my sticks to hook branches across so that Mr LW could reach the goodies, as well.

Having the scooter for me has meant I can do dog-sitting, as I'm now able to take my canine guests out for nice walks. Here's Molly Dog on one of the walks - the guy with the ball-chucker is Mr LW.

Puzzled, ami works best when taken every day, that's what it's designed for :)

Dr has upped my amitriptyline to 20mg and it's improved my sleep dramatically the last couple of nights which has been bliss, I was alsleep by 11.30 last night which is practically unheard of! I doubt it will last though as on 15mg the sleep improvement lasted 1 night, however it was upped mainly for pain... Unfortunatley it's making me feel nauseas which is a pain, and I've had some pretty bad stomach pains which I'm putting down to it to, just a case of waiting for everything to settle down!

Thanks Invasion :) Ive actually managed to stay off it still, im coping without the meds still and getting there by resting and not pushing my body. I can feel the pain getting a bit worse so think im gonna have to start taking it again but the Dr has given me a mega dose and it affects me when i drive so have to be really careful about when i take it

So who had more fun - Molly or Mr LW?!!

I hadn't considered the advantages of the scooter and box carrying - every cloud and all that!! One of the areas we used to go to was on the side of a hill, quite muddy and full of rabbit warrens!! There were always some really good blackberries, haws and rosehips there. DW loves the rosehip wine, so we're looking for an easier location to pick those!!

We picked up an old country wine book a couple of years ago and it's got some great recipes in, including one for dried apricots! It's great for making over the winter months when there are no berries - comes out as quite a crisp, dry white.

Hello all - you're making me envious! I used to make wine and gingerbeer! Even had a recipe for making wine out of old tea leaves!! Mind you our mother had a well-used book called 'Drink your garden' and you could make wine out of anything - even pea pods!!
    One life.

LOL That's a very good question! It's always better when Mr LW comes along too, as he can throw the ball a lot further than I can.

Ooh, thanks for that - I'd never have thought of using dried apricots.

Jennihen, one of my better winemaking attempts (some years ago, before I met Mr LW) was potato wine, made from the tatty tail-end of a big sack of Value spuds from Tesco. Only thing was, you needed to sit on the floor before you drank any!:rotfl:
