Trying to set up my bargain Tesco DVD-R 2005 but now getting a bad back!!
I've got a tv, video, sky box & the Tesco dvd-r all with scart sockets plus various RGB input output etc & I'm lost!!
I innocently thought I could just replace my original dvd player but forgot this was just plugged directly into the TV via a scart.
We would like to be able to record onto the DVDR from Sky & tv but leave the video player connected as we still have some videos we would like to watch.
We would also like to record onto the new dvdr from the video to transfer tapes to discs if possible.
There is not much room behind my TV unit & I would prefer not to spend the rest of Boxing Day crouching in the corner!! My old knees are playing up again!!
Can anyone please, please help this poor lady?!!! PM if you prefer to avoid clogging up the list.:j New Year, New You = 1.5lb/12lb:j0 -
I have:
VHS > DVD Recorder (through a £10 scart switcher from Argos)
SKY > DVD Recorder (through the scart switcher)
DVD Recorder > TV (through AV2 scart)
SKY > TV (through AV1 scart)
The scart switcher I got is this one:

I get some slight ghosting on the DVD Recorder when the Sky box is on. Its nothing major, but I haven't worked out how to stop it. Maybe get better insulated scart leads ?0 -
I brought this on the 2nd of december, however after giving it my father as a present it is very noisy when playing a dvd or recording one. I have lost the receipt for it but i did pay on visa direct debit. should it be ok to take it back even though i dont have the receipt?
Tesco are the only one's who sell this.0 -

You need a scart switcher as described above or you could try a 3 to 1 scart box as sold in Poundland, worth a a try for a quid.
Plug all the devices you want to record from into the 3 sockets and the single plug into your recorder. It means you only have to have one source on and the rest switched to standby then it should record from the one source that is switched on. Cheap but depends what you really want.ac's lovechild0 -
Saw at least a dozen of these in Yeovil Tesco today.
Dunno about the Packed Bitstream, but it has played every divx tv show that I have put in it so far.*************************

Am having some trouble with my one of these now... It doesn't seem to scan and put the terrestrial channels in order(minor niggle) but when I adjust the order of the channels to BBC1 ,2 etc it doesn't remember them and reverts back to a disordered mess less than 24hrs later! Also the clock time goes haywire and never keeps the correct time for more than a day! A shame really as its a vnice unit otherwise! Anyone else having this trouble?Happiness is wanting what you have, not having what you want.

Zaccy-thanks but it is the original installed firmware. Does your machine pick up the digital signal along with the terrestrial ones or do you access it via source as I have to? ThanksHappiness is wanting what you have, not having what you want.

Zaccy, i took the dvd player back anyway. They said i could only have an exchange on electrical goods as i didnt have the receipt. I chose to get the Goodmans one at £99. What a mistake, got it home to find no batteries for the remote and some tv channels already recorded on the DVD+R that came with it. LOL
Watched the DVD+R that had already been recorded on and the quality was shicking compared to the Technika. Shame the technika had such a bad whining to it when playing disks.
Going to demand my money back this time and get one of the Alba one's from Sainsbury's i think, unless anyone else knows a good dvd recorder for £100?0 -
Got one of these today from Tesco Colchester Highwoods - they had loads of these left!
Does exactly what it says on the tin - have archived stuff from Sky+ successfully to DVD and it plays all my divx and xvid stuff happily as well!
