Well three weeks in and the folks have a useless recorder.

Father-in-law was erasing a DVD+RW to reuse it and the player decided it was going into some stalled mode known only to itself. No picture and the player display just flashes 'Hello'. Ejection impotent. Remote impotent. Front panel impotent.

Turning mains off/on and/or trying to hold in keys while doing so all has the same result of Technika logo display on TV while busy reading disc with LOADING on panel then flashing HELLO and blank screen and no ejection opportunities.

Phoned the Tesco 0845 helpline and they were polite/efficient enough but no help. Their only additional idea was to remove batteries from remote then press each of the keys for 1-2seconds (yes all 50-60 of them, suspicious this could be an 0845 scam - nah there are easier ways of getting pence) and then trying the remote but to no avail.

So got authorisation code to return for refund/exchange. Going for refund as not prepared to run risk of a repetition even if they had any (unlikely).

So now left with how/what/where to replace a £60 recorder sigh...

Got a £2 DVD+RW trapped in the player of course. Helpline advice was NOT for me to try screwdrivering it open (hadn't even thought of it!), but that if I asked they'd do that in the store when I returned it!

Hi everyone! I've got a Technika DVDR 2005 that seems to work perfectly, although the manual is nowhere to be found right now: I was trying to split a title that I recorded as there's an option to do this in the edit functions. When I select this function, a clock appears presumably to mark the point where you want the title to split. So far so good. However, when it comes down to performing the split, nothing! Pressing select on the remote simply shows up an operation not possible alert, pressing edit returns to the title screen with no split and it seems that once the split point has been identified, the cursor will not go back to the split title option. (It goes to the function above.) Does anyone know how to complete this operation? (NB. I haven't yet finalised the disc!) Any advice would be gratefully received and appreciated to stop me tearing out what's left of my hair....
