Mmmm. That feeling of being in control lasted all of a day. Got refused for a Sainsbury's credit card. Think it must be because I moved twice in the last year. Anyway, have to try and clear a lot from my credit card before the 0% stops in March and May. Won't be close to clearing all of it but will give it a good bash.

Not feeling too down about it though. Need to pick myself up and rise to the challenge.

Hi CMD, apparently that's the new way companies can see if you are on an existing promotional deal. I'm hoping I'm going to have the little bit remaining on my CC cleared by the time the promotional period ends in March so that I don't have to get another one at all!

    Hi Dinah,

    How are you?

I had read that about credit cards and got the application in before Dec 1st (when they could start doing that), I suspect I wasn't on the electoral roll and that's why I was refused (even though we have sent in 2 forms!).

I am aiming to have 1/2 the credit card paid off by the end of May and then will re-apply again. I think it will look good if it reduces from £7,200 to £3,600. Hope you get yours cleared!

Am in a great mood, just got my AQA review and passed it. I have been doing it for nearly a year now and it has been a lifesaver for throwing money at my debts. Every month I expect to be chucked out though, so it is such a relief when I'm not!

How does AQA work exactly CMD? Is it a log on and do a bit when you feel like it thing, or do you do set 'shifts'? I would worry I wouldn't know any of the answers!

    Hi Dinah,

You can log on and off AQA when you want, there are no set shifts. I think there is a thread on it here somewhere if you search 'aqa'. Sorry don't have the exact link. I wouldn't worry about not knowing the answers. You can skip them, but there is a skip rate to maintain. I find it a really useful way of making extra money.

It's been a long time since I wrote on here. I am getting caught up with everyone else's diaries!

Well Xmas wasn't too bad. My parents gave myself and OH some money and it lasted us all over Xmas so I am not too panicked about January for once. I have been able to access my savings and will be paying about 4k off my credit card when it comes through. This will put me at the lowest amount of debt I have been in for about 4 years so can't wait. Want the credit card to be gone by the time OH finishes uni so we just have the loan left.

The loan repayment is £270 per month so I would aim to overpay it every month but we also want to save for a house as well before they start going up again. Ideally I would like to have no debts before I start saving but I figure if I overpay the loan by an extra £270 per month (when OH is working) then I will cut the repayment time in half. Will try and earn that amount on AQA every month.

Hope everyone had a lovely Xmas and New Year. I am itching to make payments and to get under 20k. Not too long now!

My New Year's resolution should definitely have been to post some stuff in my own diary as well as posting in everyone elses!

Well just waiting on some Quidco money to clear and also for my savings to reach my bank account. I won't be able to pay off as much as I thought 4k, it will be more like 3k as I want to have some money floating in my bank account. My overdraft is high every month and am sick of being stressed about whether it will go over or not.

OH has been looking for some part-time jobs but there is nothing about. He is getting quicker at AQA though so hopefully he will be able to give me about £100 per month extra towards paying off our debts. I won't hold my breath though.

I am also worried about what work will be available to him when he finishes uni in July. There isn't that much out there at the moment and I fear he might have to travel away from home to do some contract work.

Well done on posting. I finally got round to doing so too.

Have felt upbeat and motivated but not to post when there wasnt really anything to post about during January.

Look forward to some more updates though.
