    Hi all,
quick question if anyone is still awake.

I`ve been given some bayleaves from someones tree, what is the best way to preserve them?

I was going to shove them in the freezer but i`m not sure if this is best.
I would like to dry them but i`ve no idea what to do and don`t want to use the oven if i can help it.

    Thanks peeps.

Sunny lay them out on a bit of muslin strtched over a cooling rack (or just on a rack) so the air circulates a bit and they should be fine, just try to keep them somewhere thats not too steamy :D

There's no damsons about here either, the farm shop where I usually get them for jam says he can't source any from his usual suppliers..down to my last pot of last years and resisting the urge to buy a pot!

Lesley lol...yes real people :rotfl: I don't think I stopped talking for 2 hours :o
He's managing to get up for the loo and short sits now so thats such an improvement :j

    Evening everyone :hello:

scuzz - I make my stroganoff in a similar way to Essex Girl. However, I use creme fraiche instead of cream and also stir through a spoonful of wholegrain mustard. So, probably not strictly a stroganoff, but yummy anyway!

I've had another swap through www.readitswapit.co.uk today. The only problem is that I've now got to find the time to read all these books! At least the books on my shelves are mostly ones that I haven't read. I don't think that I've bought a book in ages because of that site!

Earlier tonight I went to a gift fare, run by a local charity. Loads of lovely gifty things for Christmas but the best thing that I bought were pies for the freezer..... Not necessarily OS, but they're very very yummy and full of "original" filling that I wouldn't make myself due to not having the space. The freezer is looking a little full, but at least we won't starve within the next year. :D:D

I had plans on putting one in the oven tonight for supper, but I got back home to find that DH had decided that we were having beans on toast. :( I didn't fancy beans, but hey. At least he made my tea for once.

Plenty of marking to do again, so unless I give you all a pen to help me, I'll disappear for today.

Thanks all for the help re the quinces - I haven't ever "met" one live or more probably, in the flesh!" Perhaps they don't do them "oop North..."

We don't have Waitrose here - although, I am involved in saving them money on their elec costs & we have saved them money too :D

And their suppliers too :D So why can't they send me some quinces! :rotfl:

i will try Abingdon Street Market - Whatatwit & Floss - will I have any joy there? (If you are here that is - I hope that you are)

Meatballs tomorrow - do they do okay in the SC and do I have to prebrown them for that? (okay just noticed a whole meatball thread, so maybe you don't have to answer that.)

Haribo - not sure why you are leaving, I must be just dense - I wish you wouldn't though, I enjoy your posts hugely

Ditto Wannabee_Sybil it's not the same here without Little Bear's Adventures!

I'm not very OS day to day but I do try at weekends - and I love the chat too, even if I'm never here all day

    Good evening gtx and welcome!
As I am a newbie when it comes to quinces, I will let the more experienced post their views
And I am grateful for the advice so far..
