OS Daily Tuesday 14th October 2008

Hi, this is the OS Daily thread for Tuesday 14th October . It is an 'over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start does just as well

Morning All!
Had a rotten night. Left thigh was giving me pain all night. Kept waking up every hour. Hope this relapse goes soon!

Dark at the moment, supposed to rain later. Going to babysit a friends daughter later. She's 13, and special needs. She's had an ingrowing toenail off, poor little thing. and I think I'm in pain:eek:

DS put together four lots of bookshelves for my Dda yesterday. We had a barney, he stromed out, I went and got him back.... We both apologized later, and some KFC made up for it:rotfl:

Anyway, whatever you are doing today, do it well!

Have a good day guys!

Hi Hilstep and all who follow. Hil - I hope you get a better night's sleep tonight. (((Hugs))) to your friend's daughter. I've never had an ingrowing toenail but I've heard it's really painful.

Well, after yesterday I don't know how much to write or what to write about!

Dinner is going to be a bit of a fry-up to use up some bacon that is on its last legs and some new potatoes which I shall also fry. It will be very OS but not that healthy! Pudding is the rest of Aussie's Impossible Pie which is lovely.

I have lots of paperwork to do today but at least I got the ironing done yesterday so I don't have to face that.

    (((Hugs))) to everyone.

    See you later.

HILLSTEP hope you feel better soon. Ouch, poor girl.

Haven't caught up with the thread yet. Understand there's some sort of debate going on so I shall look later. Spent all of yesterday rolling around the floor of a gym and today is going to be just the same. Was so tired when I got in, was asleep by 9.30.

Moussaka was lovely yesterday, never made it before. Tea tonight was supposed to be sausage casserole. Think I might change it to sausage, chips and veg.

Off to get my porridge. Have a good day all.

    Morning everyone,

I've had a bit of a free afternoon here. XDIL didn't go to college as planned today but I took DGS to shopping/library anyway. Earlier I had cut another lot of elderflowers and we made some more cordial up when we got home. He had lunch & left around 1.30pm. Tackled Mt Ironing. I expect you're all jealous as my basket is now empty. :D

Spinach Quiche is in the oven cooking for tea & just having icecream & rockmelon for dessert. I've cut out another top so might do some sewing shortly. I'll have that many clothes soon DH will have to build more inbuilts. No not really, as I had hardly any to start with.

Orkney Star Here is the recipe for Burnt Butter biscuits. (sorry about the gram measurements)
    125g butter 125g sugar
150g SR flour (sometimes needs a touch more) 1 egg
Place butter in saucepan & cook until light brown colour. Cool. Add sugar & egg. Beat well. Add flour. Roll into balls and press 1/2 almond into each. (I don't as I never have them in the cupboard ). Cook in mod oven till brown.
llamahead Whatever you do, don't swim in the creeks. :D
Charlie's Mum I expect your day to be just as busy as yesterday. No slackening off. :naughty::D

Hope you all have a lovely day & <hugs> to those not well etc. Byeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

    Morning all :hello:

    I hope everyone's well today.

I am intruiged by all the talk of quinces, as I have never seen or tasted one. I would like to though, do you have to grow your own or can you buy them?

The lavender ice cream sounds good too - now that I do grow!

Breakfast is porridge today - yum! Tea will be RTC sausages but inspiration hasn't yet struck on how they will be served.

Oh well, work again - hi ho
  • Mornin all, hope you are all well - hugs if not!
I don't dare look outside yet but i guess it will be cold :(
I have made my packed lunch for work -Potato salad

Tea tonight will be tomato and marscapone pasta with crusty bread!
I'm going to dust down my SC tonight as I have only used it once! so will be looking for inspo later.

    Morning all

I see we are still here then

Not much OS today as I am looking after DGD from 7.30 am until about 5.00 pm, so will need a few glasses of wine later to recover.

I have taken a chicken and mushroom pie out of the freezer, and will cook it in the Remoska.

Any newbies and lurkers feel free to join in, we don't bite, honest :D

Have a good day everyone x

    Morning peeps

still dark outside but i`m surprised at how warm it is, i came to w*rk this morning wearing just a tshirt.

Sorry to hear that you`ve had some pain Hillstep, hope you recover soon.
Yesterday my replacement pan arrived for the remoska :j
It already had a tiny blemish inside when i took it out of the packet but i shall see how it is after a few uses.

Hopefully on the way home later i can find someewhere that sells pectin and have a re-boiling session with my rubbish marmalade, fingers crossed. I also need to start some more wine off as Mr Sunnyday has been drinking larger quantities than normal and finishing it all off.
Tea tonight will be what we should have had last night, sausages, mash, green beans & onion gravy :D no cooking for me later unless i need to prepare something for tomorrow.
I need to update my mealplanner now that i`ve gone astray already

Atm i shall continue to post as normal until a decision has been made.
The lovely friendly atmosphere here is part of what drew me.
Kathy - For now i see no reason to alter how you post or what you post, your friendliness is part of what the thread is all about and seeing what you achieve on a daily basis inspires me.

    Have a wonderful day folks.
    Catch up later.

    Morning.

Glad we are still here as well. Work today at 1, so I will continue my clean up of the out buildings etc. I have advertised 2 reclining chairs on freecycle, so I expect a few interested people on there. Once the main shed is empty of goods I want to turn it in to a workshop. We shall see if that actually happens.
I have several logs to chop up today thanks to the local china clay company for allowing me on their land to collect the wood. That will help with heating, although oil is coming down.

Diesel is £1.13 in Tesco and petrol 1.02, so almost under the £1.

    Well packed lunch time..... Cheers

  • Morning all,

wasn't sure whether I was going to post or not, then thought 'dammit, yes I am'...!!!! I decided to put my specific OS stuff in blue text...(lol....!!)

Caught up on the last of yesterdays, so welcome to Rummer & Suzybloo, can't remember if I said hi to Dragonfairy & CornishPixie either. I agree, its lovely to suddenly see so many ex-lurkers & newbies :) That means we will all have even more ideas to bounce around! If I don't mention people, it's not because I'm not interested, but would just make my post v..e..r...y long.

Mioliere, I've still not yet tried impossible pie, I really must have a go. Weird to see only a few lines in your post...!!!
Aussie, being thick here... what's rockmelon?? Is it just another type of melon or something completely different? Those biccies sound really easy too.
Jannyannie, I'd "gird your loins" if you're venturing to read all of the other thread..
Daisychain, I got a cheap joint of beef of some description once from Mr T's, & I put that in my SC just, with a bit of water at first, then added gravy granules (oops, sorry they're not very OS) later in the day. The meat just fell apart, it was gorjuss!!! And I then put it in a few plastic tubs to freeze, so roast beef & gravy was all ready just to get out.

Uni all day, and then will do HM meatballs for supper I think.
Have a good day all, hope those who were left feeling upset yesterday manage to feel a bit better today. (((hugs))) to ALL of us (each & every single one as we all deserve them).

I'm off to work, but after yesterdays discussions I'd just like to leave EVERYBODY a ((((hug)))) before I go. You can't get much more OS than a hug, and it must be moneysaving because it's free. See you later folks and take care all of you.
