Thanks for that link Vicky:D My only experience of quinces is the ornamental type, which I'm sure I was told are flavourless. I quite fancy trying something with some now.

My day has been a mixed bag. Really didn't make any headway with the housework, but it hasn't absconded so I'll have another chance tomorrow, maybe:D I did make a gorgeous spicy sausage casserole. Look away all sensitive souls, I break with my golden rule of NEVER using cook-in sauces and buy Lloyd Grossman puttanesca sauce for this:o I really should make my own but this does taste nice and is so easy when you just want to bung it in the oven for an hour or two. One day, I might try and find a recipe.

I'm going to do some more sewing in a bit. I'm trying to get the wallhanging I brought back from Canada in September of last year, finished for this Christmas. I know it was supposed to be done for last Christmas, but it sort of got forgotten, but has a better than even chance of making it this time:D It's applique and quilting, and I don't claim to be expert, but I enjoy the handsewing, just it takes a while.

Haribo, I'll add my voice to those saying please reconsider, you'd be very greatly missed.

Off to make another coffee, please note I haven't started the vino ( yet!)

edited to add, I do stroganoff the same, but I use plain yoghurt, the sharper the better:D

    Hi,
I posted re the quince but it's not here. Must be in outer space along with the odd socks!!
Quince is a fruit that grows on a deciduous tree that starts off yellow then turns green. It's bitter if eaten raw but ok when cooked. Thanks to THRIFTLADY I now know what to do with it. I'm gonna plump for the Quince vodka. ( only coz I'm allergic to jam ) my excuse and sticking to it. ;)

Feeling V Sad as I made the mistake of going onto the other thread.

  • Evening all.

Just caught up with Monday's thread- really sorry to find that this thread, which I have only just found, is under threat. It's such a warm bunch of people and so positive!

Left a message to that efftct on the "discussion" thread.

Better make this an OS message under the curent circs!!.....made a great leek, potato and bacon soup for lunch, with whoopsed Adsa leeks and special offer spuds, and an old bit of bacon which was lurking at the back of the fridge contemplating escaping back to the pigsty. Unfortunate side effect is that there is still one meals-worth of HM green thai curry in the fridge. I'm never quite sure how long it's safe to keep things like that. I'd use my nose for most food...but this was made with proper thai curry paste from the specialist shop, therefore quite "pungent!!" LOL
If I don't post again then you'll know that 6 days is too long:eek:

    Hi all,
Have just finished cooking a meal for my dogs. That may not sound OS, but it really is. I use lamb off cuts and all the fat and grisle that I have removed from beef and use stuff from garden and hm chicken stock and a heap of oats or pasta. This is not what they have everyday but a treat to supplement their diet and it usually gives my 2 medium size dogs 2-3 meals. I cant afford expensive biscuits, so I like to give them different things to keep them healthy. Another good trick is to add steam water or potato water to their biscuits as it has heaps of nutrients in it and my boys love it. I also look for cheap bones to keep their teeth good.
    Have a good day:beer:

    Hi Puss,
    welcome to the daily
I cook for my dogs too but not as often as i should really. I make a huge slowcooker full of food and freeze it, then i defrost it when it`s needed.

I`m off to look for todays thread now ( i always try to catch up with the previous days thread first) so i hope to see you over there soon.

    Have a good one.
