The lady with OH was supposed to ask him "Why were you late this morning?"....and she actually signed "Why were you hard this morning?":rotfl: ...everyone laughed and OH said that he had to break the ice and just say that he was just excited to be there:eek:    ...he is such a tart!

I'm afraid that I was thinking the opposite.

Thinking about this this morning while reading the thread it upset me to see so many comments like "I see we're still here then" and "Oops, better not chat".

The Board guides opened a thread for debate yesterday as they had been approached by some posters who were not happy with the Daily Thread. They did not threaten to close it or move it so jibes about that are unjustified. They asked for opinions and they got them.

Haribo, I did post that I was surprised that we were still here this morning as it had been mentioned several times that the thread could be moved, not by the guides, but by others, and I really wasn't sure that the thread would be in the normal place this morning.

I was not having a go at the Board guides, and on the other thread I actually posted and asked everyone to calm down and discuss it nicely. I am sorry if you think I was guilty of a jibe (not sure that is a word)

I think we are all feeling a bit battered and bruised by the other thread, but it is nice that we are all still here, and trying to incorporate more OS into our posts.

    Evening,
HARIBO, Please give us another chance and stay.:(

CHOCOLATE, I skiped the blue bit, was more interested in the black bit :rotfl:

MUMMYSAVER, I have my shovel, ready when you are.

DH went to Morries and got some offers, carrots 40p peas30p 4 large yorkies 30p, I know that's not OS but the cost of ingredients and gas would cost more than 30p if I did HM yorkies. Large choock 2.50. Guess what's for dinner tomorrow.
First time DH has been shopping on his own since his stroke, his month of having to use me as taxi is up :j

Hope you can enjoy the evening.

Not the most promising start for me on the thread as my first post was deleted (sorry PP :o). Thank you Troo for giving me such a warm welcome! I will come back tomorrow and start afresh :rotfl::rotfl:

    Hi Everyone:hello:

If anyone is interested I have some recipes from "Farmhouse Fare" 1954 edition cookbook re Quince Jelly / Jam. I made some Quince Jelly and Jam the other day which turned out rather well.

    Quince Jelly

Pare and slice the quinces, and put them in a preserving pan with enough water to float them. Boil until fruit is reduced to a pulp. Strain the clear juice through a jelly bag, and to each pint of juice allow 1 lb of normal sugar. Boil juice and sugar together for about 45 minutes, removing all scum as it rises, and when the jelly appears firm, pot up at once into small jars.

Quince Jam (from the pulp left over from the preceding recipe)

Put the pulp through a sieve, or mash very finely with a wooden spoon. Put 1/2 lb granulated sugar to each 1lb of pulp, and boil until it sets. keep well stirred to prevent burning. Cover when cold.

I found a nice thing to do when making the jelly is to add some springs of rosemary and remove before putting the pulp in the jelly bag.

    Best Wishes
    Powie:D

My OS will be in blue also

HGTA - I like the sound of your homemade Christmas!

PenPin - LOL at your DH!

Thriftlady - I am so jealous of you having fruit trees to make damson gin and quince vodka from! If I can find damsons in shops, I might try the damson gin.

Thriftmonster - That cannelonni sounds gooood. Do you have a recipe please? Could I use a different cheese?

Jo_R - I have had a very quick scout around and found Fallen off the OS wagon, and from the mega index The Complete Getting Started OS Collection (under construction) . Most importantly - do not wear yourself out!! The OS will wait, the baby and your girls growing up will not :)

Haribo - I am so sorry you want to leave the Daily :(

Planning on doing the washing up in a minute, cleaning out the fridge and blanching some half price parsnips ready to freezer for winter. Also got to boil some pasta for tomorrows pasta salad

Hope you all had a great day

Essex girl - thank you for the recipe:D Sounds so simple, don't know what I was worried about. Will definitely be giving that a whirl

Made pasta with tomato sauce and bacon for dinner. Went a tad overboard with the pasta though, so will make a tuna pasta salad to take to work tomorrow;)

Got two large boxes given to me, so must set them up so I can put some books away to create some space.

Washing & wiping up still to do and need to feed the dog

Hope everyone's had a good day, but if anyone hasn't hugs to you

Blairweech I haven't any damson trees more's the pity. I just meant that there aren't any around this year. I usually get a box of them from my local farmshop. I do have a quince tree and a crab apple, a blackberry, raspberries and currents though ;)
