At no point in this forum, Thread or post did I say that freeview was part of sky, Once again i said "freesat from sky".

Freesat from sky is similar to freeview however you would need to purchase the equipment or a viewing card for £20, where as with freeview you only need to buy the box or a freeview tv. If you would like a more detailed explanation the you could call Sky. You never know you might get ME :eek:"

The problem here is that some people take the answers given & manipulate others when looking for advice.

A cancelled Sky subscription viewing card will revert to free satellite channels (ie the channels you get if you have a freeview digibox). "Freesat from Sky" is available to purchase for the £20 mentioned earlier on in posts, Sky then send you a different viewing card so you can watch the 200+ or so extra channels that you pay your one-off £20 fee for - this is Freesat. This seems to be what Jackthenipper was trying to get across.

My OH works for Sky too (just quoted above what he's said to me), and he understood what Jack meant. I find it all a bit confusing tbh, but then I don't know much about these technical things.

From what I read, your OH's statement falls in to what Jack said, but when I helped my Father-in-law cancel his subs, he's now viewing all the FreesatfromSky channels (including Ch4 & Ch5) without any further payment to SKY. This was around 3 months ago. Have things changed since then?

Two years ago I decided I didn't want Sky and we cancelled, we continued to receive free satelllite channels using our standard box (same as the standard channels available to those who have a freeview box). It didn't cost us a thing, was free. This isn't Skyfreesat - name given to another service offered by Sky which costs money initially - one off payment.

We aren't going to get in to any arguments with folk on here, things seem to get twisted in my view. It's meant to be a forum where people can give friendly advice, not a place to slag others off for their opinions - it's friendly on other boards. This other poster works for Sky too, both he and my OH gave factual advice on Sky services, they obviously get/are trained on the info from within Sky itself. The only other place to get the answer is to contact Sky, if you don't believe employees giving advice on this site.

More duff information, the Freeview channels are different to FreeSatfromSky channels.

Freeview channels are not all available free on a Sky Receiver.

Sky3 for instance is only available free on a Freeview Receiver.

FreesatFromSky channels are exactly the same as the ones that anyone will get with an ex-subscription card from Sky.


Is it any wonder that Sky Customers complain about the information they get from Sky?:rolleyes:
