Ok here are my views. It doesn't bother me at all. It's just one thread and if people want to chat on there great. If I want to ask a question I'll start a new thread or just butt in and ask. If you don't like the thread then don't read the thread.

And I don't get how it takes up room?

  • From a personal point of view, I make a point of reading the Daily everyday. I thank every post too. It is my lifeline, I have just moved house am a single mum, in a job I hate and don't know many people. I don't post everyday but when I do I get the support I need, it is nice to know that there are virtual friends out there who will listen. I like to hear what people have got up to and the milestones they have reached, for example, just managing to get out of the house for an hour or so with their kids when a month or so ago they wouldn't even have dreamt they could. Because of this thread I have got a bread maker, a Remoska, a Kenwood, don't use my oven and try to lead an OS life, I don't know where I would be without the people on this thread.

I have tried to read threads in the Arms etc but they don't suit me. The OS daily is so friendly please don't get rid of it or change the content too drastically.

Because they were asked - if you read the first thread it quite clearly asks what people think of it. The very point of this is to ask people who DON'T read it why not - as well as the posters who regularly post on there.

    The original question was:

Please will contributors, old and new, and any lurkers out there, let us have their comments and we’ll do our best to come up with a solution that suits to the vast majority of Old Style posters.

With your attitude, many of us will stay well away - so thanks for the comment!

Surely it's possible to keep the comments friendly though?

Great then they take up double the room.

I don't see this as a problem lilibeth. I would hate to see it go to MSA - it would get hijacked by some of the really dreadful posters whose aim in life is to create discord.

I have just looked back as far as I could, and tbh not a lot has changed  , there always has been a lot of chat, although it does seem that we are guilty of chatting more and more now, perhaps we could all reign it in a little bit, but I do like to read about peoples days, as I said a thread full of wm, dw is on would be sooooo dull.

And please people be nice to others, as i said of you dont like it dont look. Simple.
Hang on a minute, so you can express your opinion but someone who doesn't agree with it should just not look.

We were asked for our opinion in this thread by the board guides. So perhaps you should take your own advice. If you don't like the fact that some of us actually come to this board for the purpose it was intended and not to fill the place with pointless chatter then I suggest either follow your own advice and don't read this thread or complain to the board guides and have this thread removed.

Yes, it would have been lovely - but we've pretty much been told to stay away. Nice!

OS daily is fine as it is. People rely on it for company and charing ideas and life problems. There are millions of other threads and potentially a different one can be started.

Thanks for that, but I am WELL aware of what the original question was  , what I am saying is that there is no need for people to be nasty. My attitude ? pot kettle black ??

But as you clearly hate the thread then it seems sensible that you don't read it. It has been here for years and I'm sure there are others who feel as you do yet somehow they have just managed to ignore it and still find the threads they are looking for.

I for one am not interested in The Weight Loss thread or somebody's war against Sodastreams but rather than post to tell them that I'm not interested, I just don't join in.

And permission was given by the MSE team to have the Daily thread on the OS board. Why are you so desperate to see it moved? Can't you just ignore it as you hate it so much and think we are all so pathetic?

    well said
I have tried to post on threads in the arm's and to be honest it just doesn't feel right for me I much prefer OS so as with a lot of people they will stay where they feel comfortable
I think the answer is quiet simple really
a little bit of chat a bit os stuff your doing and asking for advice and to those that don't like it you don't have to read it
I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was going to blame you
