You've just got me thinking AnnieM - I was surprised that the clinic told us IUI or IVF were our next options without any further testing. I thought they'd at least check that my fluids weren't killing off DH's swimmers (or something!). If a pH neutral is an ideal environment, surely a quick 'wipe' with a slip of litmus paper around the time of OV should provide some idea of the pH conditions? Or is that much too simplistic? It probably is!!!

Did they do a Postcoital test to check your DH's swimmers were surviving in your fluids? (I've been reading TCOYF) That's the same principle as you were thinking of, more or less...

No, though that was the sort of thing I was expecting. They just looked at our records, DH's previous results, my blood results and presented IUI/IVF as the next step!
I really expected them to do more, and had I not have been totally taken off guard I'd have asked about that (I will do next time!). I've not read TCOYF (I probably should!), but I did read Ben Elton's Inconceivable (the book of the film Maybe Baby), which I probably read FAR too much into  It's worth a giggle if you haven't read it yet0 -
Hee hee - I'm just remembering the scene in the film where Gwynneth Paltrow slides off her scooter seat having tried riding it keeping her legs together to prevent 'leakage' :rotfl:0

I've just looked it up on http://www.fertilityexpert.co.uk/ThePostCoitalTest.html - it must be something that they 'do' - maybe not in all areas though?
I'll put the book on my list - might have a look at the film too. I also want to read the one Jamie Oliver's Mrs wrote - Minus Nine to One - I read some extracts a while ago and it sounded very funny and touching.0 -
I guess maybe not everywhere does it. I'll definitely ask next time I go back. I've not seen that website before, but will have a proper look when I get home from work this evening. Thanks for the link!
Jules Oliver's book is a good read too - very 'real' and certainly touching.
Right - I have to finish something before I leave work at 5. It doesn't take much for my concentration to wander these last few days!!0 -

I have been tested and come back with a reading of 24 for my FSH, when the limit for NHS funded IVF is 10 or less. Bit surprised about this, considering I have been ovulating most months since I started monitoring in August.
I have struggled to find any methods for lowering my FSH online.
Has anyone got a link to somewhere I can read through tips?
Nicki, I have been using the Clearblue ovulation monitor and found that during the first three months it was quite erratic with its requests for testing. It seemed to standardise after three months.
Thanks everyone.
Dont dispair you can get pregnant with high fsh levels, remember it only takes one good egg. The FSH levels are an indication that either you dont have many eggs left( and they could be of great quality) or that they are not in too great a shape, the blood test does not differentiate. We are all born with all our eggs ( i never knew this) but i read somewhere that it takes a 90 day cycle for them to mature, so there are things that you can do to make sure that the eggs that are developing are getting all the help you can give them. Royal jelly is meant to be good for fertility, as well as a balanced diet...... I know that on the ovusoft website some women have used maca root to get pregnant but you need to find out more about it. I hope this helps you.0 -
Checking in to see if there's any news from Myaccount? How are you doing?
I'm 6 dpo, my temp has gone smack down to just under the coverline and I'm getting the metallic taste I usually only get just before AF. My bbs were much less sore and swollen this morning, which is usually a sure sign I look for to confirm AF is on her way, but they feel a little tender again now.
For some reason I've managed to convince myself I am pregnant, and the dip is implantation, but I know I'm probably just being silly. It doesn't help that everything I put into Fertility Friend (cm consistency and cervix position) makes the 'Early Pregnancy Signs' points go up.
I think it's mostly cos I'm properly charting that I have a good feeling about it. Plus finding out the Sylk may have been stopping DH's swimmers all this time makes me feel like the Pre-seed might work miracles.I wish I could just accept I'm probably out of the running for another cycle. I just hope the temp drop doesn't mean my progesterone levels are out. Maybe I had a bad egg this month and AF will show early...

Hi Everyone,
Can i join you please, My DH and i have been TTC for 9 years now, in that time we had 5 ICSI cycles, our 1st being 6 years ago and latest being just under 3 years ago, they were all BFN's but miraculously the month after our last BFN we were shocked and overjoyed to realise we got a natural BFP and our DD is now almost 2, we've been TTC a second child since i got my AF back after having DD, ive been taking Clomid for the last 8 months, doesnt do much good as we have severe MF issues with my DH producing 0 then 2 sperm on his last SA before our final 3 ICSI cycles (using a sperm donor) but we keep telling ourselves that it happened once and hope and pray that it happens again, i contacted another clinic about cycling again with a sperm donor but my DH doesnt really like that idea as our DD is his bio child and if we are blessed with another BFP it wouldnt genetically be his child, we had councelling about before we tried Donor Sperm before and i can understand his thoughts on this but i so want another child and it certainly hasnt been easy for us before so unsure what to do ATM, my AF is due any day, it doesnt help that the clomid has mucked up my LP length every month, could be 13 days, could be 20 some months.
I wish you all well in this awful journey we all have to go through to get our dream.0 -
Hi Mrs H, welcome to the thread! And good luck with the continuation of your ttc journey...
Well, I'm totally confused now and for once I think DH truely understands why ttc can be so stressful. AF was due 2 days ago and hasn't started yet. On the day it was due (tmi warning) I wiped and the tissue was slightly pink (almost so feint that it could have been my imagination). I was convinced that was the beginning. Since then, nothing, so I came home from work today and did a test. Now, bear in mind for a start that this is my test that's due to expire this month. When I looked at the test BEFORE I peed on it I was sure I could tell where the cross would appear due to a very slight shadow in the window, even though it, in general, all appeared white. After peeing on it, I thought I could see a very feint line, but it could well have just been the same 'shadow' slightly darker due to the now blue shading across the whole window. DH is sure there's nothing there, and I'm just scared to get my hopes up. Then I got another slightly pink wipe shortly after. Just got back from our local Coop hoping they might sell tests and they don't  . I was really hoping that I'd know one way or another after doing the test, as I've been on tenterhooks for the past 2 days and can't bear the suspense!
Does anyone have any idea if the tests are less reliable the closer they get to their expiry date? Also, I realise that it's late in the day to test, and I do drink a lot of water during the day, which could have diluted the result. Oh, and another thing - I read the instructions AFTER the test (doh!) and realised that I held it at the wrong angle, and maybe for too long, so could have flooded it? Can you tell I'm a poas novice?!:D
Oh - and please don't say that 'a line is a line' and congratulate me, because I really don't think that it is. I'll go buy another test tomorrow morning if AF hasn't showed up by then. And now I have the dilemma as to whether or not to join DH in his bottle of vino!!!
