I've had two - two different times in my life when I had difficulties ttc!
The first went well. I had the laparascopy late afternoon and was home by 9pm that night. Recovery time wasn't too bad.
The second was last year, when I was 10 years older. Had the laparascopy around 6 ish and although it was supposed to be day surgery they weren't happy with me and kept me overnight. Ended up being in for 2 nights as I was in quite a lot of pain afterwards, and it took a good 2-3 weeks to recover from it.
Different surgeons both times but not sure whether it was that which caused the problems or just that I was older and less fit second time round.
Hope yours goes well. Plan for the worst case scenario in recovery terms, and with luck you'll bounce back a lot more quickly than you expect.
Thanks so much for sharing - I know everyone is the different, but reading about others' experiences help. Now, trying to find out the consultant's charges, as he is not Bupa partner, so might be charging more than Bupa covers. I'll probably still go with him, but I want to be prepared for the possible cost. It will have to come out of my pocket, so I need to know!
Update - as I write! The secretary came back saying that my consultant will charge according to Bupa guidelines, so that is perfect!Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0 -
Hi Toniq and MadMac, that makes three of us then. Everywhere you go there are babies and lots of happy parents. It seems worse when it's sunny because people are out in parks playing with their children, having picnics etc. They just look so damn happy and yet inside, I feel so damn sad.
I'm currently doing my best to feel a lot more positive about things; however it's tough some days.
Fingers crossed for everyone TTC.0 -
Well I had hoped that OTD would be a bit sooner - the suspense is killing me !!!!
Do you not realise that I've spent the last 2 weeks (on holiday)thinking about a certain persons egg follicles,ET and OTD !!!!
So,I get back (having been up all night travelling),rush to the lappy, not even stopping to put a load of washing on, only to find I've got days to wait !!!!
Take care Hun,not long to go now
nottslass x
If the suspense is killing you....imagine what it is doing to me!!!!!
Just back from camping - packed up this morning and straight back to work this afternoon (just want to go home for a nice long bath really!). Still, at least that means DH gets to unload everything by himself this afternoon!
Did buy some tests while I was away, and was very tempted this morning....but held out! Tomorrow still looks favourite though...
HUGE CONGRATS SOMNIUM! coming back to read your news really made my day!
Lilo - doing the pessaries when you are camping is bad enough... Definitely put me off testing early!!!
Got to get on as loads to catch up at work. Will be back with tomorrow - keep everything crossed for me???????

I'm in self pity mode, im so broody and so many people are pregnant , everywhere on here in real life, it had me crying as i done my housework, sorry to be a downer xxxx
I am with you too Toniq! So let's be miserable minnies together
I can partly understand how some women with fertility problem are driven to take a child - I am not condoning what they do, nor contemplating it - but it is understandable. Infertility leads you to become so fixated on having a child.
I have also developed cystitus which I am convinced I have got from the treatment - I think they bruised my bladder during ET.
I am not going back for my final consulting appointment which should have been tomorrow, a chem pregnancy isn't something they can explain and it will only be a sales pitch for us to fork out more money on tests and more treatment and my heart isn't in it. There is a reason OH and I failed in our IVF and nothing will change that. Although we have been told it is a 2% chance, we are going to just continue naturally.
I am also furious with my inlaws. OH and I have decided we don't want to go through IVF again but nevertheless, everyone in his family seems to think it is a subject up for discussion and that their opinions count! The latest is that OH's parents have repaid a loan OH made a few years ago to them, plus interest and indicated that is what the money should be used for! No indication that OH's brother (who also loaned some money) should spend his money on something specific - just us.
Thankfully, my parents are OK, but then they live with us so they know exactly what we have been through. Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!

I forgot the pessaries:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:(sorry couldnt resist!)
Everything crossed as requested!!!!
Laparoscopy - I have stayed in overnight everytime (I have had five:eek::eek:) Bupa was always keen to keep me overnight, and tbh so was NHS. I have had mine in the morning everytime! BUT I have endometriosis so everything is all stuck together so this may have influenced it, I dont know. Recovery isnt bad, but I would definately say you need prob 2 weeks after to recovery, both from a GA point of view, and also pain!!! Take any offered pain killers!!! You may have anything up to 4 holes in your tummy depending on where they want to look and what they do - one is always in the belly button - can you imagine what my stomach looks like! My latest one, the site had a bit of infection when the stitches were taken out, and split - it looks like a spider. Needless to say it is a long time since I wore a bikini ....
Oh and before I forget, they blow up your tummy with gas. This settles all over the place, particularly under the shoulders. It really hurts at times, so be ready for it. If you can drink it, peppermint tea helps, and hot water bottles are good - although in this weather:rotfl:
Good luck and I hope it goes well.
Toniq sorry you are feeling down. I think we all get this feeling at one time or another and it can really pull you down. Huge hugs to you XXXXXXXX
Angelavdavis more hugs for you XXXXXXXXXX Its your money after all:eek: Bl***y inlaws! (not my favourite people anyway!)
Sarahs999 hope you get on okay moving the appointment - at least they are on the ball with it, and I hope you get on okay
If I have missed anyone, sorry, brain hasnt returned yet! Hugs, commiserations and happy bding to all

FE - good luck!!! I am going to sleep and pray for good news tomorrow morning. You are a star on this thread and we all wish you the best of luck! ( I am sure of this, if someone isn't - get out!)
But, whatever happens, we are with you!Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0 -
Will have everything crossed for you FE, here's hoping for more good news to come thick and quick!
Angelavdavis - I would be so upset if I was told how to spend my money so can fully understand your frustrations - it is your money, do with it whatever you like and it is none of their business how it eventually gets spend, if at all! Family, eh, if only the inlaws were mirrored personalities of the one we picked to be with life would be so much easier!! You rant away x0 -

Aww Hun, thanks so much - you made me cry (in a good way!). I think this board is lovely, it is so supportive and non-judgemental. I am a member of 2 other messageboards on fertility - but this is my fave and I always come here first to read and post even if I don't have time to check on the others.
I really truly hope that you all get your so-deserved BFP's, and continue to have healthy & happy pregnancies.
OK, I won't keep you in suspense any longer! Apart from DH (who I just phoned) you are the first to know...I tested this morning and it is a BFP!
TBH I don't really know how I feel - relieved I guess to have got this far (again) but not confident after what has happened before - I expected to feel more excited than this, but I guess I am scared to get my hopes up too much.
So if you don't mind I'll hang on here for a while...
...and so begins the manic KCP (Knicker Checking Phase!!!!!).
Big (((HUGS))) everyone,
FE
Edit - just called the clinic (and didn't get told off for testing early!) - 1st scan booked for 16th July. Last time I m/c'd a few days before the scan was due. So everything crossed again that we make it that far.....The best advice you can give your children: "Take responsibility for your own actions...and always Read the Small Print!"
