I am after some advice when it comes to buggies. DS2 will be 2 1/2 when the baby comes along and I am debating whether to get a double buggy. If I do get one I think I will look at a second hand one as dont think I will have it for that long. OH thinks we should just get a buggyboard but I am not keen. I do not drive so it will be used during the week only.0

That's a hard 1 to call really, I think I would of just got a buggy board for DD but she walked a lot at about 2 1/3 and had practically given it up by 3 (I used it if we were going on longer journeys or if I had a lot of shopping) whereas my young cousin is 4 this weekend and shows absolutely no inclination to give his buggy up at all so he would of needed a double buggy... Do you know anyone that might have one unused you could borrow for 6 months? Or what about 1 of those buggy boards that has like an upper step and a lower step that can be sat on for longer journeys?A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... Ds1 was 23mths when I had ds2 and I went out and bought a big bouncy pram with a seat that goes on top...It cost me a fortune and I wish I hadn't bothered as he barely used it, he much preferred to walk everywhere. I went back to using Ds1's graco for Ds2 and if Ds1 got tired I would let him stand on the basket underneath(which protruded out the back a bit) with his body poking up through the handle...similar set up to if he had been using a buggy board.
I have decided, depending how close we have baby 4, that if baby 3 is aged 2yrs or up I will definitely opt for a buggy board/seat.
It really does depend on whether your child doesn't mind walking a bit, also how much walking you do through the week!!

The other thing you can get is two singe buggies that clip together as a double...a childminder at the school uses one of these quite a lot.. She says it is very flexible.
I suppose if you could find this then if ds2 decides after a few months he wants to start walking more you won't have to fork out on a nother buggy.

slscarborough I'm in the same boat as in Chris will be 2.5 when bump arrives. I'm not gonna buy a double buggy b4 bump arrives, I'll use a sling in the mean time if chris is refusing to walk when it comes round and then get one but you could maybe try a buggy pod maybe? I'm sure I've seen a cheaper version in php or similar catalogue http://www.babyworld.co.uk/information/reviews/product.asp?id=3320

Man I am knackered! Didn't sleep well last night - gave up at 5am and got up to get a drink but had been awake for ages already - no idea why... Then back up at 8:30 not sleeping much between... Managed to trot to Tesco for a chicken for dinner but recently there has been a smell in there like sewerage :S and it was particularly bad today... so was heaving my way through the shop grabbing everything I needed BARELY managed to avoid throwing up several times... Not nice.
Home and DH has done the back garden poo duty (bless him!) and after a shower went and made me cheese on toast... Awwwww
Since yesterday I've had an odd kinda pain in my left side... feels like a stitch when you've run too much... Not at all comfy and hasn't gone away at all... but does have different levels of intensity - anyone else had that?DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!

To be fair, if you knew the work that goes into making these christmas menu's you would understand that chopping and changing meals is not easy.
They have to plan the menu around what equipment they have in the kitchen unless your happy for a frozen veggie lasagne 'pinged' in the microwave and served with what veggies the rest of the meals are going out with. A kitchen works different at christmas due to the sheer amout of hungry bellies to fill.
They will happily turn customers away as at this time of year there are plenty more.0 -
It's still not THAT hard to do a little extra for people and it's going a little out of your way that gives you all year round business...
We go to our local pub a lot because as well as good food at decent prices they are willing to accomodate you if they can... I LOVE cajun chicken and it's low fat which is another bonus. Even if it's not on the menu and chef is busy she'll usually do it for me if I ask... and it means if we're eating out then more often than not we end up there... :)I know that no matter how busy they are if there is something in a dish I can't have chef will do anything she can to remove it (within reason! obviously some things she can't as she batch makes them during the day) so I can have what I'd like.
The other pub in our village... no customer service! So we went there ONCE and we've never been back...DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!
