Sami - if I am a snob because I think that clean hair is important then so be it...I am very glad to see that your hair is clean in your avvy ;)

SB - I can't believe you are going to leave us...:cry::cry: I am selfishly hoping that Jamie is going to be a Janurary baby ;) :shhh:

I just went to the woolies sale (got 7 vests, 20% off) and the Sainsburys baby event - 50% off all baby toiletries etc :j bought infacol, more sudacrem (sorry AF - although ours was stocking the shelves continuously because things were flying out) nappy sacks, wipes, shampoo, babybath, talc, baby lotion...and maternity pads are half price 49p for 10 - I guess we will all need a load of these so even if you can't bring yourself to buy anything else I guess it is worth buying them?

Also went to KFC for lunch...and could eat it again.

OUT OF ORDER MFD

I forgot about Woolies. I wanted to get some white babygros. I was too tired to leave the office.

and Sudacream too.....this is just unabelievable!!!!!

No, seriously, i am glad you managed to get a lot of stuff you wanted. You can't go wrong with 50% off :D:D

Hmmm... KFC....although the chips at KFC here are nothing like the ones at home, which are gorgeous, with a special salt on them!!!

AF: I'm praying you BF sucesfully coz I'm not a fan of the smell of milk (not enough to put me off tho) but formula smells and tastes Minging!
I'm assuming SB has tasted it from testing the temp on wrist or at the airport security thing as that where I know from, although we ran out of milk once so hubby tried a bit of formula in his coffee _pale_ he did not like it!
Glad you got your hypno birthing stuff:T

thanks Sami, another reason to pray that breastfeeding works for me.

as for the hypnobirthing stuff (which includes a CD), just hope i now have room to put it on my mp3 player as a friend's hubby has just put about 6 albums on it for me

I also think I might have had my first braxton hicks experience...

as I was walking around sainsburys my bump was kind of getting harder and getting painful (taking my breath away) for I don't know, about 5-10 seconds at a time...does that sound like BH??

Now I don't want you ladies to laugh at me but I had always thought of labour pains as being related to (and located around) my foof...now I am kind of thinking that the pain of being in labour is actually around the bump area?? :o

God I feel like a newbie asking stoopid questions again :rotfl: - no such question as a stupid question newbies...I have probably asked them all in the last 5 months!!
Yep sounds like BH to me, and labour pain I found was mostly in my lower back and where you get period pains it only hurts in your foof right at the very end when the head is coming out ;) the best thing i can liken contractions to is when you are sick and your stomach squeezes inwards, its a bit like that but i found not as violent

    I need your help ladies:

I've been looking at buying a birthpoolinabox for my HB and the best price I've found is just shy of £100 for the pool and all the bits (at boots.com), but hubby wants me to see if I can hire a pool more cheaply. Can anyone help me? I don't know where to look to hire a pool :(

i've just googled 'birthing pool hire' and had a quick scan of a few sites. looks like it is going to cost more to hire, i guess for the reason being is you don't know if you are going to early/late/ontime etc.

I think £100 for the pool and the bits will be the better price, but i am saying that on about 2mins research so i very well may be wrong.

what about putting an add on netmums or something like that? somone may own one and is willing to sell it or hire it out???

Contractions (or surges/waves to use hypnobirthing terminology;) ) are the muscle that forms your uterus tightening to push Bean down and pull cervix back. Cervix end actually loosens (horizontal bands of muscle fibres) while the top contracts (vertical bands of muscle fibres).

Hypnobirthing philosophy is based around the idea that fear causes your body to go into fight/flight mode thus depriving areas of the body not requied for survival from blood flow and causing them to tense up.

The belief is that medicine (and religion to an extent) has created fear of birthing in modern women over time by demonising childbirth as a curse rather than a blessing and focussing too much on what can go wrong before explaining how it actually works.

They teach you the physiological aspects of birthing (in a more helpful manner than my other ante natal class I have to say) to help you understand the process your body is going through so you can accept it is a natural phenomenon - none of your other muscles hurt when they perform their function (doea it hurt when you flex your arm or walk?) so why should the uterus?

You then get taught a form of self-hypnosis to help you manage your contractions and have a non-traumatic natural birth experience. That's not to say that they advocate no intervention if you are at risk or if circumstances require. Watching the videos of women labouring and giving birth without the screaming, sweating and panting so often televised went a long way to alleviating my fears!
