Morning tinkerbell,
I didn't have to ask it in the end as the midwife just told me but I wanted to know if our hospital would tell me the sex (yes), if a water birth was a possibility (yes) and if they did nucal scans (no, they have the equipment but noone is trained to use it yet!).
I remembered late last night that we hadn't done the paperwork for the MatEx card. I'm not bothered about the prescriptions bit as I already have a MedEx card so don't pay for prescriptions anyway (you get a lifelong one for having hypothyroidism) and I'm only going to the dentist next in April so I'll get hold of it before then. But it's something to remember you are supposed to get at your booking appointment so ask for it if you think you'll need it soon (took about a fortnight to come through)
And if you're not very giving with your blood, make sure you wrap up warm before you go - my prob yesterday was that I was so cold they couldn't get any blood out of me. Got to go to the hospital for them this morning - daren't look out of the window yet but the weather sounds crappy!0 -

Huh? Up to you - if you're not fussed then hang everyone else! (jmo!)

Morning all,
Elle - not sure what neck of the woods you are in but where i am down south we have the wind and rain. not as cold has it has been, but very very miserable. hope giving blood goes a lot better for you today. i know what it's like, the MWs (or even nurses at the surgery) can't get blood out of me so i always end up at the hosptial. The MW said i just may as well go straight to the hospital for my 28 week bloods, rather than her using me as a pin cushion!!!! my hubby can't believe it, saying i am too 'tight' to give my blood away. Hmmm... the cheek!!!!
Tried to get bubs to move about last night before hubby went to work so we could see if he could feel him move from the outside, but the little so and so wouldn't play ball. As soon as hubby left, he starts his wriggling and spinning around the kicking!!!
Thought I was over the worst of this cold/bug thing doing the rounds but was awake on and off most of the night coughing. Not happy at all!!!!!0 -
Well if the MW is the same as last time today then giving my 16 weeks blood could be interesting
Have my appointment today at 13:30 so working from home todayyay!
So apart from stealing more red stuff what do they do? I am hoping I get to listen to beans heart...
I am madly hoping the MW will be the other of the two that we have round here and that I get on better with her...
Oh and do they check any private bits at the 16 week visit? I'm a little paranoid about people seeing me "untrimmed" but I can't be bothered to make the effort if they're not likely to! :rotfl:DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!

Tine, I had mine last week and all she did was blood pressure, wee and take the bloods... She didn't try the heartbeat because she said it was still a little early so hit and miss... but I suppose a week makes a lot of difference at this stage so she might do...
Oh, and nobody should be looking around your lady area until baby is iminent... ie... Sweep or labour!A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... Most of my bloods have been taken by a phlebotomist at the antenatal unit at hospital
. Trained in their field and really quite painless! I've only had one set done by a MW whilst I was under observation - she hurt and left a bruise! But that was only after a student tried and failed on my other arm!.
I never had an internal the whole preg with Poppy until I went in to be induced and no one has looked at my bits this time eitherso I would say you are quite safe today MrsT! :rotfl:

oh that's interesting. that is what i drink during the day and he loves moving around whilst i am at work, kicking me in the belly button if i am too close to my desk0 -
I noticed that last night, I chugged a glass of coke down and it made the baby wiggle... Although it has been moving (Or I've noticed it moving) a fair bit more the past 2 or 3 days... In fact it just rolled over while I'm sitting here!
The Wright stuff this morning is talking about finding out the sex of the baby... Might see which way the verdict goes and get OH to watch it later... Could ring in... But I'm too tight to pay 10p a min and not get onA very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... Another day with nothing but fun fun fun fun with work today... thank goodness I'm working from home or I think I'd loose the plot... Yesterday was pushing it and anther day like it and I might accidently put in my resignation! Which would be singularly silly!DFW Nerd #025DFW no more!
