This probably won't be to everyone's taste, but when my Dad heard of my m/c he sent me a txt msg which said something like "Look at what happened to your mum, and how awesome the second one [me] turned out! ;)". Although a bit twisted, that actually meant a lot as me and Dad don't usually get on - it was probably only the second time he'd shown he cared in recent years (first when I announced I was preg and the third was during the speech he gave at my sister's wedding).. makes me laugh and cry at the same time!

ETA: Caz, unfortunately there is nothing you can ever say in those circumstances so it's hard to know what to suggest. Like you say, it's just so horrible to think things can go wrong at just about any stage :(

    Elle,

Only last week I found out my cousin had recently miscarried (she has two delightful children already but they were hoping for another). I felt so much for her and I also felt guilty that all was going well for me.

When I told a friend she said "maybe that baby was destined to be an angel?" I thought that was beautiful, so that is how i try to think of it now. The baby angel will be watching and protecting the family she has now and any additions in the future.

I am a big believer in Angels and would name my baby that (if it was a girl or somethign along 'angel' lines but i can't find any suitable).

:A i honestly believe she would be :A

my hubby is a driver who works nights and i bought him a keyring for his van keys that is an angel and says 'never drive faster than your guardian angel can fly'. for his birthday i have just bought him an angel wing to go on his car keys so he is protected in both vehicles. i panic otherwise

    Nursing necklaces
Has anyone used these before. i have seen them on ebay. they are meant to give bubs something to play with whilst they are feeding so that they do not pull at you or bite (yeah right). they come up on ebay when you do a guardian angel search, but if you google breastfeeding necklaces some come up also.

    Any thoughts??.....Krystaltips????
  • Morning all,

I read every day just not got much to say at mo. Though, all the jokes about having twins and having your hands full...don't forget this lady here is carrying twins after the shock of finding out at the 11 week scan!

Seriously though, nowt much happening here. I am 16 and 4 and off to Leeds on Saturday to go and buy some maternity clothes. Mine are starting to feel tight though thankfully my boobies haven't increased, I would like them to stay at their pleasant handful of 36b!;)

I have received the dates for my 20 week scan - Mon 29th Dec. Then also another appointment (probably for appointments sake as they are twins) 4 days later on Friday 2nd Jan. The last appointment was to take my blood pressure and that is it. All my appointments are at the hospital as it is twins so will ask if it is really necessary for me to come back 4 days later.(I am thinking MSE and saving petrol and also wanting to hit the sales to buy reduced baby costs, twin pram etc seeing as we have two of everything to buy!).:T

Think that is it for me!

I don't think there is any hereditery link at all, but it's always in the back of my mind that it's not over until the baby is there in your arms and wailing :(

Believe me, the worrying doesn't stop then! And the first time they sleep through the night - OMG - you jump out of bed so quickly to check them!

Ickle, I've got my 20wk scan (at 22 weeks for some reason!) Followed by an appointment with the midwife a week later to review it?!

Then I've got a gtt at 28 weeks and then another scan and a consultant appointment 2days after in the same place... I also asked the receptionist for all early appointments as it's easier for DH but she insisted on 'spreading them out a bit' so he has to have an whole afternoon off work now rather than booking an 'appointment break' and making the time up... It wouldn't be so bad but he only has half a days holiday until April!

AF: Nursing necklaces... A friend of mine had one and it broke and showered beads everywhere so one thing to be wary of... I'm not adverse to them, they are personal choice but not really neccessary in the early days, all baby needs is to see your face as they feed... The necklaces are aimed at older babies and toddlers that can tend to fidget a lot as they feed and need something to mess with... I probably wouldn't fork out for one... But then I'm tight ;)
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...
Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

I debated getting a nursing necklace when I was pregnant but decided I'd see whether I needed one. I've sound Celia isn't too distracted while feeding so atm we don't really need one (yet!).

I've heard criticism leveled at them that it teaches babies it's ok to pull necklaces but I've not met a baby who doesn't pull anyway! (Incidentally if you wear your baby on your back a nursing necklace will entertain them that way if you wear one!)

Having said all that if you want one I recommend this website :-) Oh and I've found some kind of "this side next" bracelet invaluble!

  • Angelfairy-You could still call the baby Angel even if its a boy, what about Angel Clare from Tess of the D'urbervilles? It might be better as a middle name though unless you know he's going to be a 6ft bruiser!

A friend I used to work with had a still birth a couple of years ago, she went in because baby had stopped moving, she was 39 weeks and had to go through a normal induced birth knowing that the baby wasn't alive. I am dreading seeing her whilst I am pregnant and feel bad about that but I know she doesn't go out shopping anymore because she can't bear to see all the babies.

I never worried when i was having Mil once I got past 12 weeks but this time I'm really concious of all the things that can go wrong, and it doesn't improve once they are here you worry even more.

Sorry I didnt have to time to get back yesterday but just a quick note to let you know everythings fine. Baby is growing at normal rate. They dont know why im bleeding, just seems to be one of those things.

They did say if it hasnt stopped in a few weeks to go back and they'd check again.
