First of all - great - thanks for pointing out the burger - I'd never noticed it before and now it's sitting there looking all good - I can't decide if it makes me hungry or turns my stomach - it goes back and forth. :rotfl: I'm getting this weird thing where I'm really hungry, but as soon as I've eaten, my stomach starts churning and I feel nauseated.

When I had DD (okay, admittedly 22 years ago), they had a bassinet that had a little cabinet under it - they kept it fully stocked with nappies, wipes, and pads. And the morning before you left, they filled it - and then said you could take the contents home with you so you had stuff to "start out with" which was great. With DS (2 years ago) - nothing. Not even a free nappie - we had to have DH get the nappies we brought in and clothing we brought in. Sad. We were on our way home within 12 hours of delivery though, so I guess not a big deal. Felt bad for those that had to stay longer and have their hubbies bring in more supplies for them.

Sami - hope your DH feels better soon and that you don't get it. I don't like taking stuff when pregnant either. I'm stuck on antibiotics right now as my diverticulitis kicked in a bit, but it's amoxicillin, so the baby will be fine, but I'll probably end up with more discomfort from the amoxicillin, lucky me. :rotfl:

sounds like I'm really lucky with my hosp! the mat unit used to be in a separate hosp thats now closed but when it was there they even had a charity "shop" that gave those who needed it free stuff from whatever had been donated.

Hubby update - he's still asleep. aww bless

I've had amoxcilin before and i don't think it had any side effects on me. but I'm weary as when my baby teeth came through they had almost no enamel on them and mum was told it was a side effect from anti b's she'd been given when preg but they didn't tell her when she was given them in case she refused them!

  • My hubby has just phoned to say he is on the way home because he is too poorly to work  did he listen when I told him to stay in bed this morning? Did he b00gery - just grunted and groaned as he put his clothes on (such an effort with man-flu ;):D)

Anyway - my MW likened it to going to an optician about a broken arm...she wasn't nasty or anything, she just said that there was no point in waiting to see her or speak to her about things that weren't pregnancy related (which included my coccyx) because she wouldn't have a clue...better to get myself sorted out by the doc.

P.S. - I'm allegic to penicillin - does this mean bubba is more likely to be allergic too?

P.P.S - I have just had TWO toasted teacakes - yummy!!

Hi caz  have you told MW? I'm sure she'll say don't worry it'll be fine but best to be safe, fingers crossed its not gonna start early and your snowed in

Can we have a pic of some real snow? they said on our local news that some of the roads on high ground are currently only passable in 4x4s - seriously when you go up to the Austrian mountains to ski they manage to keep the roads clear everyday so why can't we with our tidderly bits of snow! my dad will be annoyed as he has a gritter/snow plough license but round here they cut the number of contracts so he doesn't do it anymore but will be sat at home (with real flu at the mo) saying why aren't they out?!?

Oh I wish it would snow here! I would gladly trek out to the car tonight and brave the cold so DH doesn't have to walk to work tonight if we could have snow!!!! Of course, I say that, but DH wouldn't accept a lift anyway - he'd never drag me and DS out in the cold even if it meant a nice warm lift to work. So then I'd feel guilty for wishing for the snow..... hmm.... but I do want snow.... :D

Caz - are you otherwise feeling okay? I agree the midwife would probably say you're fine, but never hurts to check. Plus it'll make you feel more relaxed about it. Good that there is plenty of movement though.

  • There is a bit of snow here in stoke sami... I got a call from my assistant at 7.30am to say it was snowing and that it had taken her husband (a policeman) an hour to do the journey between town and her house. So I told her tosit it out until it melted a bit. I then called the other staff who all said it was very snowy and they felt better about not having to rush in...(who wouldn't appreciate the boss calling to say you can come in late).

I got in just after 9 and if there was an inch that was it!! I am from the Derbyshire dales originally - when we say snow we mean a minimum of 6 inches!!!

Apparently it is moving south so I am hoping that hubby will get home and tell me to hurry back before our house gets snowed in... I will, of course, believe whatever he tells me without question ;):D

is the bounty pack usually given at booking in appt? is it the pack in a carrier bag?

the best treatment for eczema is moisturisation, with something good like aqueos cream. My eczema has flared up, but best to see the Dr to get it checked.

The midwife is a health professional and she should have a wide range of advice for a healthy lifestyle, not just about the baby nowadays!!! bit old fashioned!

Anymore lunch suggestions for icky icky - only had 1 suggestion thanks anyway.

I am surprised the midwife didn't offer some sort of advice - when I was pregnant with DS, my midwife basically told me "you're pregnant - any kind of medical illness or problem that affects your body basically affects or is affected by your pregnancy - give me a call first and if it's not something i can sort, THEN I'll refer you to the GP." I loved that woman!!! She even made house calls - always came to me as the bus ride was long and uncomfortable as we didn't have a car then and I had such pain with my hips and pelvis. But she's in Devon and I'm here now - don't think she'll make housecalls now.
