It's interesting how people divide the duties differently... My mum and dad are VERY different people and during the night if I woke up it was my dad that got up - mum would sleep through. To this day she can sleep through an earthquake! Dad has always managed on a couple of hours sleep and then once a month he zonks out for 24 hours... always has and still does.
I'm a light sleeper when it comes to certain things - I can hear our cats outside the front door through closed double glazed windows no matter how deeply asleep I am... But the police hovering 50 yards over the house? zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz no chance...
So I think I'll be able to sleep so long as I am happy little one is ok...
DH sleeps pretty heavily but is prepared to be getting up in the middle of the night when needs be. As I'll hopefully be BF then feeds will fall to me unless we later on decide to express and then he can share those doties too
He'd definitely want to be involved in all of it - and he knows the yucky duties are shared bless himThen again I think nappy changes bother him less than they bother me

Hmm....bump bands....might have to look at these.
Not having much luck looking at other things i want as WORK keeps getting in the way!!!!!!!0 -
Ahh Tine that sounds like me (although I don't have a cat) I wake up when Christopher talks in his sleep - which is so quiet the monitor doesn't pick it up although i just drop off straight away, but the trains going by every half hour and the occasional police 'copter I sleep through soundly
I didn't use bump bands but did buy some larger size boob tubes which was also handy as they still fit after Chris arrived I used to wear wrap dresses in the office so i got a bit more wear out of them that way0 -
my oh doesnt get up bcos he cannot breastfeed!
he does occupy littlun in the evening when she seems to need a bit of a cry

one of the things I found hardest (and still do a bit) is the sharing out bit, after running round after Christopher all day I'm exhausted and want to just hand him over to daddy but daddy has been working at his very physically and mentally hard job for 10hrs  its such a puzzlement of whats fair0

Just a flying visit, haven't slept since midnight Sat night when my waters broke. Anyway, full birth story to follow later, just wanted to announce the safe (if quick) arrival of Matthew, born at 11.27 am on Sun 23rd Nov weighed in at 7lb 13oz. I say quick as I went from 6 cm dilated to him being born in 45 mins! EEKK Bless him, he managed to turn from the op position diring labour and the midwife did think things would happen quickly, but she wasn't expecting me to say I needed to push when I did!
Had to stay in as he had passed meconium (sp?!) and its a mandatory 12 hour stay with obs round our way. All ok and we came out earlier today.
Oh - he also managed to "loop" himself around in the cord whilst he was inside me at some point as when the placenta came out, there was a perfect knot tied in the umbillical cord!? More details to follow when I've worked out what day it is. Will try and get a piccy uploaded soon too!
Happy to say bf going well, he seems to know what to do - typical little boy.
Love and hugs to all, will catch up on all your news soon xxProud mum to Matthew born 23/11/08 7lb 13ozand Rosie 12/01/05 7lb 9oz0 -

Evening all,
Congrats to rosies_mum - or indeed rosie&matthews_mum now!
All this talk to maternity clothes.. I'm only 5-7wks (who knows!) now and I can't do the top clip up on my trousersI need new ones anyway as these are getting a bit tatty so thought I might as well get maternity ones with the tapes/buttons in the waistband. I've always got my work trousers from Topshop as they're the only place I can find that fit me, and I've just checked and they don't have any 6/34" trousers in stock!
Will be searching eBay tonight... Got some new tops yesterday and OH has been wandering around cross-eyed ever since due to how big they make my boobs look! hehe
