Hello I am just after some advice really
I found out im pregnant on saturday, im approx 4/5 weeks pregnant, i have also starting having bleeding, well its not like bright red blood, but more of a mix like the start of a peroid.. i would of been due on on sunday? i have been to the doctor and he said to wait untill about 6/8 weeks as will be able to see heartbeat on a scan. Ive read about Implantation bleeding, so thinking it could be this.
Or that it could just be like a normal period.
Really i know i have to wait untill the "safe" time, but i was just wondering if anyone had any idea? or advice? or has experianced this before?
    Many thanks
    Louise

Louise, its quite common for you to bleed around when your period is due, in most cases there is nothing to worry about but if your worried you should be able to just turn up at you local EPU (early pregnancy unit) and they will see you (they are usually open 9-5 mon - fri) If you call your local hospital that has a maternity ward they should be able to give you the tel number for EPU, they will prob tell you to come in for a scan once your passed 6wks as before this a healthy bunch of cells can be missed as so small.
if you experience strong pains and heavy or red blood then you should be seen straight away.
I had a small amount (not enough to warrant wearing a pad) of brown blood that stopped within a few hours of starting which I was scanned at 6wks for and they think it was most likely implantation bleed, had my 12wk scan last week and all is going well. hope it is all goos for you too! x

Nope, it'll be filmed! I won't let anyone see it though. Gives OH something to do while I'm doing all the hard work I suppose!

OT but I'm all nervous today. I'm doing a sort of short talk thing tonight, only in front of a 'small group' whatever that is! I don't like talking about me.

    Evening all,

I had a horrid day... broke down in tears in the office - first time I've cried since I found out I'm pregnant this time. I've been having a few niggling pains which I don't think are quite right (I know, I know some pains are normal, but these are different) and then got a sharp pain in my shoulder - another ectopic symptom so I lost it completely. I think it was just the suddeness of the pain that caught me off guard :(

Phoned the midwife who actually took me seriously for once and agreed to book me a scan (on Monday, her theory was "if it's ectopic, wait until it bursts, then we'll do something"!) so that's booked for Friday morning. She could obviously hear it in my voice.. I really can't take the stress of it but I didn't realise just how stressed I was :(

I'm going to my mum's for tea tonight.. can't sit here and think too much.

(sorry for the pathetic self-pitying post)

    Oh Elle!
I do hope it is all OK, you are quite far on for it to be ectopic aren;t you? Wouldn;t you have known by now?
Hopefully you won;t get any more pain and it will all settle down and the scan will show everything is well.

I know how awful it is to be worrying and you won;t be able to stop yourself, but take all the love and support you can get from your mum and try not to panic.

    huge hugs
    xxxx

  • Oh Elle - going to your Mum's sounds a good plan - it sounds like you need some looking after - I will cross fingers for you!

I've not been in here for a while - I have been busy being in pain with SPD - 33 weeks now, and it's getting really bad. I was getting very overwhelmed with it all at the beginning of the week, but I've brought the start of my maternity leave forward a week (so only 2 more to go after this week) and if necessary I will get myself signed off sick earlier than that. Boss has been fab though, and said I can go home early without loosing pay if I want to, so that has really helped. But still. You don't realise how useful being able to walk is! (I can walk, but by the end of the day I can't do so without wincing and going owwwww!!!! to myself as I go.) I keep having to ask people to put things into the filing tray/whatever for me and I hate it. No-one minds doing it, but I don't like having to ask for help.

Still, it will all be worth it in the end :)
