have you seen the Alcohol removed Merlot? think its call fre or something like that, it has a blue label, anyway its totally lush, obviously its not perfect but it does the job for me, it could be that just drinking it out of a wine glass really helps.

Have CVS tomorrow morning at 11am - with initial results re Downs by Monday (hopefully Fri but am not crossing fingers at that one!). I'll need anti D injection too, as I'm rhesus neg and DH is rhesus positive.

Have read conflicting stuff over what I can/ can't do after cvs and how long I should rest for. Have decided to take longest view and have organised help etc for 72 hours - am planning on virtual bed rest! Haven't figured out what to tell eldest 2 yet (they don't know about pg, toddler too little to realise anything) - will probably have 'flu. I don't like lying, but it's more they don't need to know anything just yet and will be vvvv concerned and worried about stuff - and I don't need that as well!

Am wetting myself, frankly!! Am scared CVS will result in a 'healthy' baby miscarrying (esp as I've bled at fortnightly intervals), am scared the result will show Downs, am even scared because CVS doesn't test for Spina Bifida that it will have Spina Bifida and I won't find out!!!

Have been v emotional today with Armistice stuff going on. Was explaining about Flanders fields/ poppies etc to my eldest 2 at breakfast and nearly cried several times!

DH is v stressed over looming redundancy too - so we're a bit useless in this house atm!

    Fingers crossed!

Good luck with everything....I can understand your concerns and would feel exactly the same....I would rest as much as possible although I know thats not easy with others to look after......will be thinking of you x

will be thinking of you greent
  • greent - as much bed rest as possible seems the best way - especially because then you will not find yourself inadvertantly doing too much with the kids. I will be thinking of you, it is perfectly understandable to be scared and crying is just par for the course - keep us informed and you can always come on here for a rant or a worry if you need it - like Sami says, we're not real!!

slscarborough - hope you are doing okay and hope that it all goes well for you tomorrow.

I have a midwife appointment tomorrow too! 25 weeks so just a poke and a prod and some wee testing I think. Surely they don't need any more of my precious blood?

Visitors have been told to wait a while so we get some peace. Isla sleeps for about 4 hours at a time then gets fed and changed back to sleep. Long may it continue!
Morning all - congratulations Emma - Isla is a beautiful name and what a beautiful little girl she is!! Thank you for such a detailed birth story. I am fascintated by how 'green' your waters were - bright green or just a little green tinged?

Hubby says think exorcist lol. They were proper green, not just a little tinge lol

    Emma :)
  • Greent - it sounds like you are doing the best you can by going by the "longest rest" advice. I can't imagine how you must all be feeling but appreciate that it is necessary to know one way or the other. Will be thinking of you and DH tomorrow, take care. Don't forget we are all "here" (if only in a virtual way!) if you need somewhere to come and off-load your feelings xx

How many blood tests do you noramlly have. I have only had two (12 weeks tests and Downs syndrome test) - does that sound about right for being 19 weeks?? I seem to remember having much more which DS2.

According to my 'Antenatel Appointment Schedule for Low Risk Women', The only tests I've supposed to have had now are the Booking in Bloods done at 8-10 weeks and the bloods they do with the Nuchal Scan. Next ones are due at 28 weeks.

  • what about if you are rhesus negative? I remember having blood tests every month with DS2. Will have to ask tomorrow when I see midwife.
