oh gee, i'm wincing (?sp) now that the thought of a needle and thread being applied to my 'foof'.

okay okay, i take it back, not to late too worry about these things...what are my chances of another way of giving birth being around in the next four months???

should have stuck to what i always said, not having a baby unless a stork delivers one to my front door.

Here's a link to perineal massage.

As for pelvic floor - the midwife at aquanatal was telling me that I should be doing 50 a day or I will be peeing myself before I know it :rotfl:

I guess the sooner you start them and get into a routine the better - MW suggested 5 sets of 10 so you can fit them in during an ad break on TV or when sat at traffic lights etc

Also, whats the deal with pelvic floor exercises? When are you supposed to do them?
NOW!! ;) I think its something like 20 times quic squeezes then 20 squeeze and hold for 10 secs do that 3 times a day everyday until a few weeks after the birth. check with your MW for the correct amount

They are VERY important as mine are now seemingly non existant I can't find them to exercise them! weeing a bit whenever you sneeze for a hayfever sufferer like me and he fact I'm only 23 is sooo embarasing!! - I thought I was young as fit so i'd be fine:rolleyes: ahh the ignorance of youth

  • Oh god - just read about perineal massage!!! Sent the link to hubby who is sat 6 ft away - you should have seen his face! :rotfl:

Baby Show - going to look at it a bit more but think we are going to go. Not really into these things (avoided wedding shows like the plague - my idea of a nightmare!) but might be the place to see as much twin stuff in one place as possible we if we are only just approaching 13 wks, will give us a chance to see what is out there to then buy in Jan sales! :T

  • hi sorry if this is wrong place, me and my oh are considering trying for 2nd baby, have 15 month old son. are we wrong to be thinking of this now as country heads to recession or is it ' if you wait til you can afford it you never will'? sorry but really want another baby but am worried that it would be selfish now.

I suppose if your struggling now then its not the best idea. but hubby and I still started trying for a baby knowing full well we didn't have the house sorted but the "right" age gap was really important to us and after much discussion we decided to go ahead. we are lucky in that if anything really bad happened like us loosing the house both our parents live close by and have enough space for us to move in with them in the short term.
so the answer is do what ever feels right to you, if your worried about money make sure your using the site to make sure your doing everything you can to get the most out of your money. Good luck!

  • Icklebeans - did anyone give you this link - http://www.twins-store.co.uk/epages/twins-store_co_uk.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/twins-store.co.uk

I came across it last night whilst looking for my cotbed and thought of you.

Incidentally - an hour spent searching on the internet I have managed to find a better price for said cotbed from £209 (RRP, although lots of places sell for £199) to £155 :T

I guess it depends on your own finances billybobberyl... if you are struggling at the moment financially or facing redundancies I'd think about waiting a year or two to be honest... no there is never a good time to have kids really but there is bad and there is plain heading for disaster... If you can barely scrape by now, then imagine what might happen if one of you lost your job - or could you survive and pay the bills on SMP?
I'm 12+5 and know things might get tricky if the economy gets worse, but we have income protection in place which will see us through should anything happen to either of our jobs and basically cover all our bills and loans. I know we're both in pretty well paid jobs and technically should be "safe" as much as you can be at the moment, but I personally didn't want to take the risk with a bairn on the way... We only went ahead after careful consideration and working out all the finances with "what would we do if I ended up on SMP"... we couldn't live on that so I put other safety measures in place...

I agree with Mrstine. Its one thing if you just have to tighten your belts and do without a few luxuries, but if you are struggling, then I'd wait a little while.

My SIL had her two when they were struggling, and they are finding things increasingly tough. They can't afford any luxuries now, and aren't doing Christmas or Birthdays anymore.
