  • ((((((( ))))))) big hugs to greent.

I am sorry you have had this worrying news but it is not a diagnosis yet. I was in Waterstones recently and saw a book you might like, it looked like a great read, it is called Living With Max by Sandy Lewis about her son. He was the down syndrome actor in Notes on a Scandal with Judi Dench.

I wish you strength to get through these difficult weeks while you wait for more concrete news. Downs kids are known for being very loving and bringing a lot of joy to people's lives.

Greent, so sorry to hear your news I know your mind must be racing with a million and one thoughts and feelings.

I don't know much about it I'm afraid but assume you are now looking at having an amnio? Will that tell you for sure?

Thanks, Ladies for the support x Have still not heard and have also tried phonong 'specialist' m/w at the hospital several times - no answe/ message service - just rings out, eventually. Will try again in morning :-(

Dh is here and obviously knows (was at todays scan) but is tressed himself atm - found out yesterday he is 99% likely to be made redundant at end of year. He's freaked about that, I'm freaked about the baby and we're not much good for one another atm. (although I'm still the one left to deal with everything re the other 3 kids) ATM he is locked away in office at home doing whatever (work? facebook? who knows)

Am looking at a CVS, as I'm only 12 +2 - this 'should' be possible and should give definite answer. If it is positive for DS then I will termiate. Sounds harsh, but I'm not prepared to do it and would get little help from dh (he doesn't really help with our current 3) He has a sister who was born deaf and has mental/ learning issues (although is not ds) All credit to parents of ds children, but its not for me (sorry if I offend anyone, but the whole point of the test to me is to find out and act on decision - if I was prepared to have a ds child I wouldn't bother with further tests, certainly not invasive ones)

N key ois playing up and typing bit erratic anyway - sorry

Will hopefully find out something tomorrow

  • Welcome LP! Weren't we mirroring each other whilst on TTC forum? Long term pill use - Dianette for acne etc? Welcome, lovely bunch of ladies! Though wonder if you will mirror me in the twins department?!

Green T. Sorry to hear your news.It must be very hard to take in. I am going for the nuchal scan on Monday, I will be 13 weeks but am having twins. I am keeping my fingers crossed. Thinking of you though.

Is the Manchester Baby Show very MSE? I looked at the price, £9.50 each in advance but is it worth it?

I was wondering that too, especially considering how early into it we are (will be in week 11 at the show) so don't have any idea on things that we need to buy etc.

I think if it was March-May time next year then I might be more tempted.

greent - I'm very sorry for what you are going through.
I agree that there isn't much point in having the tests if you are not going to act on it, hence we are just not having them. I hope it works out for the best for you - which ever result you get.

Greent - just wanted to give you my support. The best thing about this bit of the forum is that we are pretty non-judgemental. You ahve to do what is right for you and your family.

I hope that the midwife calls you asap and you get the tests you need with little problem. We are all here for you xxxx

Oh GreenT I'm so sorry to hear that!
I'd managed to talk myself out of a nuchal but now I am wondering if I should try and get one done next week! I'm 28 (nearly 29) so not I guess in the high risk category... But I still worry. Until now I'd pretty much convinced myself I shouldn't have the scan but now... dunno... Like you my decision would be to terminate so please don't feel bad about that. I've met plenty of DS children and like you I can't do it... I just can't. It's a personal choice and one that only you can make, but I am sure we will all be here to support you no matter what you decide.

    HUGS!

greent - You must do whatever is right for you and your family, no one else has stood in your shoes and cannot know what is right for you, only you and your oh can make that decision, once you know for sure there is a decision to make.

re manchester baby show I was going to go but will now be in eurodisney freezing my bump off!! gutted i can't go but its probably for the best or I would no doubt have fallen in love with a mega expensive pram!!

I went to the baby show in Birmingham when DD was a couple of months old... There is loads of freebies! Also special offers only available there from companies like tomy and real nappy companies... I would def go again... But not all the way to Manchester... Unless we could tie it in with an In Law visit... Hmmm... When is it? lol...

Greent, only you can make the decision about your family and your body and we're all here to support you. I have also decided not to have a nuchal scan. I've had the blood tests etc but more for information, termination is not a route we would take...

OH just walked in with a big bunch of flowers for me! That is why I married him!
