It always feels more 'definite' when you've been to see the midwife, armybike! The midwife will take a wee sample and blood sample from your wife while she's there. Then they send a referral letter up to the hospital. Once it's been signed by the consultant you can then ring up to book your 12 week scan!

I'm 6 weeks 3 days at the mo and have already had to tell more people than I was planning to! My referral letter obviously is going to the ante natal clinic where I worked before I moved to a ward a few weeks ago. So they would find out anyway. I have a 'school mum' friend who, when she sees anyone pregnant says 'I'm glad it's not me - aren't you?!' So I said 'Actually it will be me in June!' Lol her face was a picture!

I'm hopefully collecting a breast pump from freecycle in the next couple of days. My total so far from freecycle is: Avent steam steriliser, Avent bottle warmer, Fisher price kick and play vibrating bouncy chair, Tomy baby carrier, and a baby sling by babaslings.com!

Hope you all have a good day,

pinkpig i didn't have to wait for the mw appointment before my scan was booked - my appointment was booked back when i was 4/5 weeks gone... the 20 week scan was booked yesterday when i had my 12 week scan :) guess it varies depending on health authority :)

If anyone hasn't got a knitter in the family but wants knitted cardi's, matinee jackets etc just let me know, my mum is a knitter and the the bump already has about 8 cardi's and she hasn't even got into her stride yet!

Millie didn't wear even half of what she knitted for her, there just weren't enough hours in the day, so I would be happy to share.

millie that is really a sweet offer. i love matinee jackets. my MIL has really got me into them. i have picked up a few at a boot sale and a lady who i work with, her mum has offerend to knit me the bottoms to go with them as i can't find them. i just have to find a pattern to buy on ebay that i like (pram sets)

might take you up on your offer ifyou have any spare or are looking to sell them (would love to see pics).

  • Angelfairy no probs, I will have spare(s), I already have spares how many cardi's can one baby wear?

pm me your email address and I'll send a pic of the two she's already given me, one of which even i admit is really cute.

You don't know what you are having do you? its just she is dying to knit pink or blue and I won't tell her so we'll be drowning in lemon and mint green

  • Hope all went well, Mr & Mrs armybike!

Pinkpig, it must be different for each area. Here at my first MW appointment at the GP surgery we just had a general chat, took BP and referred me to the antenatal unit. Then the unit sent me an appointment for around 12w where the scan and booking in were done at the same time :). Same with my last preg too.

Poppy had her needles first thing this morning and she was very brave....much braver than Mummy! :o. One more lot next month then thats it until pre-school :T.

And I'm off for my 34w scan this afternoon :D. He wasn't breech at the 4d one so I'm hoping he has stayed put!

Ah, MilliesMum, I love knitted stuff too! Lots of people knitted things for Poppy (all neutrals so can use them again this time!). I used to put a different cardi on her each morning over her babygro when I brought her downstairs.

Oh, and tarajayne I can't see your pics for some reason?
