i had problems with my little boy as he needed light therapy and we were looking at a possible transfusion as his billyruben level were far too high and they couldnt get them to level out. the others have been fine however they keep a close check on all my babies when they have been born. they said it didnt help i breastfed it would sort itself out quicker if he was bottle fed???? anyway only advantage now is that he gets a fab tan in the summer lol!

    :j :j :j

ALmost 50% of baby's are born with jaundice and its perfectly natural due to all the extra blood cells from the chord and the placenta being broken down by bubba's tiny liver. There is no danger for baby as long as the levels stay under the transfusion level, it will resolve by itself, I find it concerning that they said that to you re bottle feeding, very unprofessional and ill informed of them! there is no need for it to go "quicker"!!! well done for persevering the breastfeeding!!

welcome and congrats to all those with BFP's - and a special mention for elle-gee :D

feeling very hormonal and emotional at the moment. having a sofa day and ignoring the housework to try and let the worst past before hubbie gets home.

Thinking about lunch and think a toasty is the order of the day.... and perhaps some iron supplements too to see if it helps combat some of my fatigue.

oh...the what to buy baby book arrived this morning so I'm going to read that over the next couple of days too x

FG, pelvic girdle pain is an all encompassing thing from what I can gather, it includes SPD and also pain that often gets mistaken for sciatica... Clicking hips could probably be the start of it.. I would ask your midwife to refer you to a physio... and climb the stairs like a toddler, 2 feet to a step...

Definitely not that. Just being a hypochondriac says OH. Still, think I'm might stay in bed for a while - the aching is fine if I'm lying down.

    Thanks everyone!
Well - scan went great! Bean was bouncing all over the place and started out by waving at us loads! The scanning chap agreed with the dating - said it's rare to get the dating that accurate early on but yep he agreed I'm 12+1 today :rotfl: Bean was living up to the nick name and bouncing round like a mexican jumping bean making it a nightmare to get a decent picture, but we managed to get one whilst Bean had a couple of quiet seconds and it looks really nice :D
The guy said without taking measurements for a Nuchal then obviously he couldn't comment on any Downs risk etc but he'd think I'd be very low risk and there was nothing giving him any indication that there is any issues at this stage... Everything is there and he said usually when you've been doing this as long as he has you get a gut feeling if there is something that might be an issue but if I felt worried then having a proper nuchal scan might calm my worries down... :)
So might call tomorrow and see if they can fit me in privately for the Nuchal - but if not I'm no longer as worried as I was... Having someone talk calmly to me made me feel oodles better I have to admit... :) will post picture later I promise!

  • Excellent news MrsTine!

To the poster who mentioned formula feeding & bilirubin levels - the reason the yellow goes quicker in a formula fed baby is because they're taking in greater quantities of fluid which then clear the liver. As long as baby isn't getting any yellower or sleepier everything is fine, but it's good practice to pop baby in front of the window to get as much light as possible.

All of my babies were jaundiced - this was my son at 9 days old
