    Hi All

It's my first time posting in this thread, OH and I have just got married and are hoping to start trying for a baby soon. I've just come off the pill so cycles are gonna be a bit all over the place for a while, and we're going on holiday in September so gonna start properly after that.

I've started looking into it all now - I hadn't realised there was so much to take into account!! I've just ordered one of those saliva fertility tests off ebay, and I need a thermometer as well. Can anyone advise me on what the best sort to get is?

    Hi Gill, welcome to TTC

Your best bet with regards a thermometer is one that records the temperature in Farenheit, rather than Celcius/Centigrade, as you can spot a temperature shift easier

Thats exactly the one I have :) It beeps when its decided what your temperature is and has a memory too, so if you forget what it was you can check. Into my fourth month of temping and I naturally wake at the right time every morning (even on weekends), take it and go back to sleep for half an hour :o

Yup, I have exactly that thermometer too - bet loads of us do actually, it was a bargain and seems to do the job!

So welcome Gill :hello: and my word, you are only just starting out TTC and are already charting and so on? That is quite something! My only bit of advice is to start taking folic acid (or a supplement containing it) straight away so it can kick in before you start to try - and don't forget to enjoy it along the way! You never know, you might not need to do any charting or OV checking - you might be one of the lucky 'oops, I'm pregnant' girls!

I hope so for you - and do enjoy the trying anyway!

Hi LAdies. just a quick question, but warning TMI ALERT, I have been experiencing some discomfort around my pelvis area the past 2 days so decided to have a feel while in the bath. I can feel what everyone on here describes as the end of your nose, but slightly softer than the tip of your nose. I have never been really able to feel it before, and wonder ladies due to the period I had over 1 and a half wks ago if this is another good sign for ovulating, What do you think ladies. Could my body finally be starting to sort itself out, just in time for going to the consultant on Friday morning.

    Any info greatly received.

Kencokenco, when you're not fertile your cervix feels like the tip of your nose, the closer you get to your fertile time the softer it gets until it should feel like your lip when pressed (i.e. its not squishy but soft). Everyone is different but it could be your cervix softening a bit. Either way seeing the consultant is a great thing, they might be able to tell you more accurately whats going on up there ;)

Penny, that's kinda like how long is a piece of string! Pharmacologically, your last pill will be out of your system probably within 36 hours, and definitely within a week but the time it takes your hormones to recover can vary. I know people who conceived the month they came off, but plenty of these ladies can tell you of people who have taken years.

Kenco, I always see that feeling as a good sign I'm OV so yes, maybe things are settling down for you! Hope your appointment goes well this week, x
