djdymond, those 2 months will pass so soon - especially with Christmas! And you can enjoy Christmas parties with a few drinks, and glass or 2 of bubbly on NY Eve! And then, with the New Year Resolution, comes the TTC!

We got married August 2007 (well, civil wedding was Dec'06, long story!), and on the next day his mum (she is a doctor) told us that I have to start taking folic acid!!!!!! Believe me, I was shocked! And my parents keep reminding me that it is time for children (for example, when I said we are thinking to get a cat, my dad answered that it is time for children, not pets!). They don't know we are trying... We don't want to tell people, as it is hard enough. I think I told 2 people in total - like friend that is living 1000 miles away. We may acknowledge this now, if we get asked when are we going to have babies.
We started trying last Oct'07, as OH was changing jobs and we wanted to make sure he would be able to take paternity leave. No luck so far. And people whose weddings we attended since had babies, and people who where pregnant on our wedding have children celebrating their first birthdays!!!! And, one of them stole our favourite name for a girl - Sophia.... I was 'hoping' they will get a 'surprise' at birth of a boy instead of a girl they were told they ara having!

Congrats to all the BFPs fantastic news!

Well no sign of AF, on CD30 of a 28-30 cycle? No symptoms although i am trying just to carry on, i think i may test tomorrow or the next day if i can hold out and AF doesn't show up.

Welcome to the newbies, this is a great place for support and advice so don't feel ashamed or embarressed about asking questions or ranting, we all need it sometimes.

Good luck to all and may these very cold nights bring more BFPs :)

congrats to all those who have concieved, I MC last week at 8 weeks, 12 weeks ago i Mc at 4, will be trying again soon once im mentally ready,so i hope you girls will be able to give me some advice over the following months, goodluck x

Sorry to hear about your m/c. I am in a similar situation, as are many of the ladies on here, well I had a blighted ovum diagnosed and a d&c last week at 8 weeks :(
It is so rubbish then you have to wait for your body to sort itself out when you just want to be back to "normal" with no reminders (my symptoms are only just going down now, but feeling really bloated and big since the operation, hope this is normal?!?)
Anyway hopefully we can get going again soon and things will be better the next time ;)
  • Congratulations to all the BFPs and sorry to those of you who have recently m/c.

I posted on the old board 2/3 cycles ago but I was getting so despondent when AF arrived every month that I tried to wean myself off any TTC related threads or websites - easier said than done!!

Like you Leopardlady, i'm currently on cd27 of anything from 24-29 day cycle. I'm desperately trying not to get my hopes up but i'm thinking that maybe this month is the month. Ever since we started TTC i've noticed that I spot for 3-4days before AF, but this month (warning TMI coming up) I had a tiny bit of bright red blood once on CD21, about 7dpo, following by very very light spotting for 2 days, but since then nothing. At the back of my mind i'm wondering whether this could have been an implantation bleed? I had a bit of light cramping over the weekend but since then nothing and whereas normally I have loads of 'symptoms' currently I have none  .

If AF doesn't show i'm going to try and wait until Sat morning when i'd be officially late. In the meantime i'm going to try and not let my imagination get carried away with me - i've spent most of the morning daydreaming about how we would tell my parents at Christmas.

Good luck to Leopardlady and those other people waiting to test.
    Baby dust to everyone.

ANyone know how long periods take to come back after a miscarriage? I'm on day 33 since the first day of mine and am not sure if I should be expecting it soon or thinking about testing for PG! I usually have a 34 day cycle.

Some people are incredibly insensitive. My friend and her husband have been married over 6 years and from the first day they returned from honeymoon her m-i-l has been on at them to give her a "proper" grandchild. (She already had a grandchild from one of her other sons, but as the parents weren't married it didn't count.) At a family party about 4 years ago she went around and told everyone my friend was expecting twins. My poor friend had no idea until people came up and started congratulating her.

They have been trying for years with no success, earlier this summer she miscarried her first pregnancy, which nobody but her husband and I know about. And her m-i-l is still going on and on about them having babies. She's something of a holy joe and has started telling them that they can't have babies as it's god's way of punishing them for living together before marriage.

I have to say I'd cut my m-i-l out if she ever started to carry on like that. Mine is in her 70's and as yet grandchildless. Apart from getting tipsy at our wedding and telling anyone who cared to listen that she felt ready for grandkids now (she would also prefer grandkids born in wedlock) she hasn't been too pushy. Though they are coming for a visit tomorrow so maybe that will change.

The wife of one of my uncles is very pushy for me to have a baby. She's only 6 years older than me and is pregnant with her 3rd atm and I think she'd like to have me to give her children more cousins near their own age. But as she lives in Holland, I live in London and we only see each other in Ireland I've managed to avoid her since my mc.;)

  • We've been quite lucky with the parents not being overly pushy. I know my own Mum and MIL are desperate for us to have a baby, although we get more indirect hints rather that any outright 'when are you having children' questions!

We've not told any family that we are ttc - couldnt cope with the extra pressure!! But we have told some friends. I told two friends early in our early ttc cycles as they were also ttc - and yes they are both now pregnant! I've also told my best friend and another couple that we are friendly with. I don't know whether anyone else has this experience but our friends that already have children are very supportive and don't ask how we're getting on, unless we mention it, but I get a monthly text from my other friend who doesn't have children asking me if there's any news, you can imagination the combination of AF and getting that kind of text:eek: !

GracieP - hope you don't get any pressure from your MIL this w/end.
