Welcome jjade, we don't talk too much about money on here i am afraid, but we are all keen msers so should be able to point you in the right direction of advice. My only advice is that you start taking folic acid now in preparation for ttc, and enjoyLeopardlady

Hi everyone,
This is a wonderful thread.
We've been trying to have a baby for a while (6 months+). I have a question re using a lube. My hubby tends to use a bit of lube (vaseline moisturiser) on this thingy (without sounding too graphic). I've read conflicting reports about using lube hindering with getting pregnant. I dont use it .. but because of a bit of dry skin he uses it to prevent any discomfort.
Any personal experiences ?
Thanks.0 -
I'm on CD14 now, due to OV next week so need to get BDing in earnest soonish
I'm excited about it and hopeful. Staying positive about the whole thing, perhaps this will be my month but if it isn't then there's always next month instead.

I'm new round here and don't know what any of the abbreviations mean (although check out my 'TTC' in the subject line! wooo me!).
I currently have the Mirena IUD in and have had it for a couple of years. Hubby and I (okay, mostly I!) would like to start trying for a baby towards the end of this year, so I was thinking of of getting the Mirena out in July, using an alternative contraception for a couple of months while my body sorts itself out, then seeing how things go after that.
Does this seem like a sensible plan to all you ladies who seem to know what you're doing? Has anyone had any experiences/problems with getting pregnant after having the Mirena removed?
Thanks for your help!
I dont know if the coil you have is the one with the hormones or not but i was told to wait at least 3 months. If your coil has hormones in it then it might take longer for your body to get them out of its system. Your plan sounds like a good one to me.0 -
Hi Jjade and Mehak,
Jjade with regards to finances can only really say what I've found out myself. Statuatory maternity pay is £114 a week I think. We haven't really looked into anything else as we've got ourselves in the situation where we can manage on DH's wage so I don't have to go back to work. With regards to "stuff" you need well only you can really answer that. Most first time mums aren't very MSE (myself hopefully included if we ever get the elusive BFP) and want new everything. I would say as a minimum you would need car seat, pram, cot and possibly moses basket although if buying an all in one pram you could use the carrycot. All of the above are very much down to personal taste as to how much you spend and whether you would buy anything secondhand. Lots of very good condition bits on ebay. You will also get the new £190 health in pregnancy grant which is supposed to be used to pay for fruit and veg and the like to help you eat healthily.
Mehak I've read that ANY form of lubricant can be harmful to sperm however there are ones specifically designed for use whilt trying to conceive and they have really minimal effect on sperm. "preseed" is the one that I have used although now don't need it! I have to say when I did use it we found it fantastic as it can be used as an internal or external lubricant and it felt very natural. It's not cheap but a tube does go a very long way!0 -
I am 10DPO today & still having all these silly symptoms - v sore boobs, tired, can't stop going to loo, bad tempered, can't sleep, headaches & constantly hungry.
I've done a superdrug test but couldn't decide if the v faint line was evaporation or tlp.0 -
Hi everyone, welcome to the newbies.
Have re stolen someones wifi so i can say this.
AF came today. Wasn't expecting her until tommorrow aswell. No symptoms at all, just randomly went to the toilet after OH left for work and there she was. Witch.
To say the least, i am devastated. I didn't cope as i thought i would. I really hoped i would be pregnant again after taking advantage of the spoke about extra fertility after a miscarriage.
Went to the docs today about me being ill, and mentioned we were TTC and he took my blood pressure and said its low but not dangerously low, and said my illness may be an early pregnancy sign. Got my hopes up to. He pescribed me some folic acid with iron in for TTC, which cost me £7.20, i have to pay for prescriptions
Oh well, at least i know my cycle is fine and onto next month!
I will be optimistic, eat heathily and take the tabs doctor has given me, (i hate taking tablets usually, i cant swallow them lol) and hope and pray for a BFP next month.
I'll be back on properly tommorrow as i'll be back at work.
Cant wait until we move into our new house so i can have proper internets lol.
Good luck with everyone that is still waiting to test this month!
Im off to go and eat galaxy and cry a little while waiting for OH to finish his shift
