  • Well looks like i will be back with you lovely ladies in the next few months.
Had my scan today and they comfirmed i have had/am having a mc.
I did expect it so i am not too bad i have had a big cry and cuddle with dh and thank god i have my ds to distract me. Hopefully it is all happening naturally but i have to ring the hosp tonight to check my levels are coming back down as if they aren't it means an ectopic although the scan showed that all traces of the baby are coming out.

I was shocked that so many ladies there were also having a mc and i feel lucky that i was only 6 weeks gone an ddon't need anything doing. A lady there was 3/4 months and lost her baby The staff came out of the room where we had the scan in floods of tears. There was at least 3 that needed a d and c or op of some sort and me and another girl that was having mc natually.

Thanks for all the support and wishes speak soon.

elastigirl. I'm very sorry to read of your mc.

Personally I had to have D&C the first time and asked for one the second time. I wanted to get it over with ASAP :o

Ruth - thanks. I have and it's not very well-worded except to say that a birth certificate must be provided when you claim and that you cannot claim until 10 months from the start of the policy. I suppose I could call just to clarify, but then I guess I'd need a doctor's affidavit if I gave birth early that I was actually due on xx date?

Sorry, I tend to over-think things WAY too much. Odds are we won't conceive the 1st month trying anyway, I just like to cover all my bases!

We run a similar scheme at my work and all you need as confirmation of your due date is the MATB1 issued by the midwife.

Hello ladies! I thought I would pop in to ask some advice...

DH & I are definitely read to start TTC. However, I've recently applied for this supplementary cash insurance plan through my work that pays £700 birth grants (for about £300 a year in payments, so that's a free £400!) and I'm now registered as from 6 January. However, as can be expected, there's a 10 month qualifying period before I could claim that money, so I absolutely cannot have a baby before 6 November now.

My next AF is due roughly around the beginning of Feb (4th) & if we HAPPENED to get pregnant on our first cycle trying (unlikely, but you never know!) that would give me a due date of 11 November - cutting it very fine with the qualifying period.

Would you risk it? - I'd hate to give birth 2 weeks early and miss out on the £700 just because we were too impatient to hold off TTC for 1 more month. However, I know the odds of getting a BFP in the 1st month of trying is fairly uncommon. I heard that most 1st time pregnancies run a bit longer than 40 weeks, too? We're really eager to start trying, but the practical side of me is cautious that if something goes wrong with the pregnancy & I have an early birth, we'll have wasted a good opportunity for easy cash for the baby.

Agh! Maybe AF will be late so even if I get pregnant, there'll be more than a 5 day window! :p

I would say hold out. It is only one month & £700 goes a long way when buying stuff for the baby.

I know the chances of you getting pregnant on your first month are slim but believe me it does happen! Hubby & I had sex once the month that I got pregnant so we know for def that it does happen!! :rotfl:

I'm hoping that the same can be said this time...We're on our first month of TTC & so far we have managed it once over the last three days & it's been my most fertile time. I'll have to pin him down tonight! :D I'm impatient & don't want him changing his mind! Lol!

Anyway sorry if TMI! You all now know my secrets!
Our 1st baby is due 29th December 2007! :rudolf:
I'm hopeful that this get's me out of cooking Christmas dinner!

Baby Ruby arrived after 55 hours of labour & an emergency c section on Christmas Day at 14.41 weighing 6lb 6oz...And yes I did get out of cooking Christmas dinner!!:rotfl:

Hi Cady - you can go to the docs if you are worried and they can do a blood test but it could just be because you were stressed last month?

Elastigirl - I'm so sorry to hear you also had a mc. Let me know if you want to chat about it. I'm currently on my first period after my mc - it's heavier than normal but I'm glad I'm back to normal and can start trying again. Actaully we had some fantastic BDing after my mc :D not sure why, maybe because we hadn't had any for 7 weeks  so you have that to look forward to, unfortunatley didn't manage to do it when I ov'd .
