So best thing to probably do it buy a bunch of cheap (non-branded) ones off eBay plus 1 or 2 Name Brand (like ClearBlue, FirstResponse, etc.) to take only if you get a positive? I was thinking about getting those cheapie ones but was concerned they might not provided the most accurate results...sounds like a good idea!! Thanks.

I bought my cheap tests from accessdiagnostics but just looking at the site their prices seem to have risen quite alot since I last looked.

I totally trust the cheap tests to give an accurate result. They got both of my pgs correct.
Personally I wouldn't bother backing up with a named brand but that's just me. If I was going to back up with a name brand I wouldn't buy it until I needed it because it would probably be out of date by the time I needed it :D
Mind you, the tests I have here are probably out of date as I use them so rarely ( I have to be at least 3 days late before I even consider doing a test)

What did I say in my last post....I just checked the tests I have here and I have 25 that are out of date in May 09

If anyone would like a few of them PM me with your address. I'd hate to see them go to waste if someone can get use out of them.
They are first come first served and offered on the other thread too.

Edit to add~ Sorry, all gone now!

  • Personally I used Poundland's three in a pack to confirm my last pregnancy and they worked brilliantly and although it says to wait five minutes the positive showed up straight away and i was only a day late. I will be stockpiling these now that I am ttc again. If you want to save the pennies and can wait until your af is late I would definitely recommend these.

I'm so disappointed. I was having a really bad day yesterday & couldn't sleep so at midnight I decided to do my last FR test!

AF is due to day so I figured that it was close enought to get an accurate result. I know it wasn't my first morning urine but if I was pregnant surely it would show up by now with AF only a day away. Anyway as you can guess it was a BFN so I've finally resigned myself to the fact that it's not happened this month.

I know it's only the first month so I probably sound silly but I'm really upset. Just to top it off AF hasn't even turned up yet & my OH keeps telling me he thinks the test is wrong. Apparently he noticed my tummy looked bigger the other day & I told him it was probably a "food baby" but he reckons a "baby baby" was pushing the "food baby" out of the way! Now apparently it turns out that I'm just getting fat.... I would laugh but I just can't today.

Oh well Nikabella, I know how you feel, I was gutted that my AF turned up 3 days early! Lets just hope that all of us need to keep warm this next month:) and you know what makes us the warmest ;)

  • Awww Nickabella. Although I haven't tested yet, af due on Friday it is our first month of trying aswell, and I am sure if it's a bfn I will be dissapointed aswell. Although as Leopardlady says there will be loads of BD to do in January and with this cold weather we will definitely need to to keep warm. Good luck to everyone and lots of sticky baby dust xx

Sorry to hear your news Nickabella, don't forget even if everything is performing well and you bd on the right days you only have a 1 in 4 chance of getting pregnant and most people take around 6 months.

I think AF is about to give me a visit but it's only 33 days since my mc (going by the day I had the heaviest bleeding) seems a bit early from what the doctors said but they weren't too sure. Does anyone else know if this is normal?

    Hi jenny

I have no idea what "normal" should be as IMO we are all different and our bodies recover differently.

When I had my first mc I had a period 5 weeks after the day of the D&C. After the second one it was 6 weeks from day of D&C.

Thank you for all your support. You have made me feel much better, this thread is a lifesaver. It's so hard when you are at work & feeling really disappointed/upset & can't talk to anyone about it.

You're right jennynoo I don't really have it in perspective as far as time frames are concerned, I got pregnant with my DD on the first month of trying & I guess I just hoped it would be as easy this time. I'm sorry to hear about your mc & hope that your body gets back to normal for you soon. My friend had several mc's whilst trying to concieve her 2 children, however, her long awaited DD arrived safely just before Christmas & is absolutely beautiful so I know how hard it can be when it seems a little bean won't stick.

I'm trying to be practical & think about the fact that if we had got pregnant this month then my OH wouldn't have gotten paternity leave as he moved jobs this week. If it happens next month (or any following month) then we will be a whole £230ish better off :rotfl:

I was thinking that maybe we should start trying to pin point ovulation more carefully to give us a better chance next month. Is it worth using the Clearblue Ovulation Tests - do you just buy one pack per month? Also I was planning on tracking my BBT from tomorrow onwards, however, we only have a digital ear thermometer which works to 1 decimal place so is this not good enough?

    Thanks again for your support.

Nikabella, have hope-your AF hasn't showed yet so theres room for hope still! I know it's easy to say but very hard to do.
With my DD I fell pg accidently (was only 16) and with DS I got pg 2nd month trying. Im now 6 years older since I last conceived and am aware that it may not happen so easily. I will still be mega dissapointed if it doesn't happen this month though.
We BD'd again last night. Did OV test again this morning and still LH negative though. It's very close though,I will ovulate within the next 3 days, and sperm can survive inside your fallopian tubes for up to 5 days right?? Think we will BD again tm night to be sure :D
love my little man he is amazing :j
