  • I was there with a mate at ten to eight, about twenty queueing, lady in front wanted the same thing. We agreed each to go down a different aisle and the first to find them to get three. What a joke! I got there first and they had about six - all gone!!

    Really annoyed!!
  • Thought some of you might be interested in this: I too rushed to my local Lidl (Spalding) last Monday to get one of these HDD recorders, and was disappointed (there were just 3, and I was too late!).

However, I happened to drop into another Lidl today (Sleaford) for something else, and I was completely flabbergasted to find stacks and stacks (maybe about 100) HDD/DVD recorders. Needless to say I had to get one.

It seems to be really good - much better than the £230 Medion one that I just took back to Aldi - all kinds of brilliant features, and all for £80 less! I haven't really had a chance to play with it properly yet, but it seems to work properly, unlike the Medion one.

It might not be identical to the one originally advertised: it has only 120GB HD (enough for me), and records in DVD-R format. I can't find a paper or digital description of the offer to compare it, but if anyone is interested in a specification, I can give details from the box or manual.

I was so overwhelmed at Lidl that I didn't ask if they had had them in since last Monday or if they had just come in, so it might be worth checking your local Lidl again, or failing that, get to Sleaford, South Lincs!

The reason that Sleaford has hundreds of them is that it opened last week (Thursday) and this was an opening offer, you may have also noticed the 14" TV's for £35 and the portable CD/MP3 players for £9.99 ,and the wireless keyboard & optical mouse sets for £9.99 :) i managed to bag a high end PC for £499 which was £799 a couple of months back :)

The offers are only in the Sleaford store.

PS I live in Sleaford :):)

Aldi fan, more or less the same thing happened to me around this time last year at Lidl with a satnav, They only had 4 in stock and I was first in the queue (been sat in the car park for an hour), anyway when I opened the box back home, I discovered that the memory thingy was only half what they reckoned it was on the flyer. I contacted Lidl H.Q. and within a fortnight I had received a cheque for £25 'cos it didn't correspond to the description.
It might be worth your while to drop them a line unless it was described as 120GB at the point of sale.

No the one in Sleaford has been advertised as a 120gb in the local papers and on the posters at the store notice board outside and of course on the box , last weeks specials were specific to that store as it was an opening offer thats why they had 3 pallet loads of them

This is the one thats for sale in Sleaford http://www.targa.co.uk/cms/targa_2_646.php?produkt_id=367 they never had any of the 160gb ones at all.

If anybodys intrested i could scan the advert i think i still have it

Reading these posts, I feel really sorry for guys who turned out to grab a bargain and were disappointed by lack of stock etc. This is taking the loss-leader scenario too far! It is also taking the p*** !!!

But guys, I have only got a cheap DVD player at present and have been looking for the DVD recorder, with all the bells & whistles etc. e.g. HDD, twin digital tuners, time slip function (so I don't have to pay SKY any more money) (plus all the different formats). In other words, the ultimate machine!! Is there such a thing, how much is it, and is it reliable ?
I feel as though I am asking for the moon, but if there is anything out there, I would like your recommendations. I realise this is probably on the wrong thread, but it can be moved I'm sure. :xmassign: :xmastree:
