  • I don't bother with Lidl anymore either. One or two per store but with banner headlines. I've learnt my lesson and don't shop there at all now.
  • P*ssed off.

I decided I wanted one of these as my xmas present from my gf so she went to Lidl (redditch) for 8.45. There were 6 people in the queue. The doors opened and everyone ran to the special section only to find there were no DVD recorders there and that they were at the tills... by this time everyone that was behind her in the queue had been to the till and had one... She is fuming... I went to my local LIDL (hall green) to find they opened at 8am now not 9 and they had all gone...

Lidl are a bunch of w*nk*rs... Mor equantity needed!!!

People aren't bothering to go there any more as they know they won't get what they want...

Been to Lidl this morning as they opened the door - there was a queue of about 30 people all trying to get one of the three, yes three DVD hard disk recorders at £149.99 which from reading previous posts seems typical. Seems to me like a bit of a ploy to create discussion, promote Lidl's name and get people into the shop. Myself, I feel conned. Maybe different elsewhere, but I doubt it. I'll be shopping at Aldi now.

Nothing like a good bit of publicity to promote the store eh!. :snow_laug

Another PR disasted in the making I suspect.
  • I think it is only appropriate that, if any are reading this thread, a Lidl rep should respond to the people who were disappointed by the lack of stock for this item.

Why? These things are always advertised as limited stock, and they're bound to be in such demand because the prices are so good.

I would hazard a guess that much of the reason why the prices ARE so good is because they are only able to obtain small numbers - other retails wouldn't be interested in small batches, so the prices fall. You should be thanking Lidl etc that you have the chance of getting hold of them at all.

I go to Lidl for other stuff anyway, so if the specials have sold out, it's no big deal. I admit that I've travelled quite a long way to Aldi on a couple of occasions for the specials, though, and have been lucky enough to get them (without appearing at the crack of dawn, either).
Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.
  • Is it the same at Aldi, as I would like their pvr on Thursday but have never been there for the start of a popular offer before? Do they stock well with popular items?
  • Managed to get 1 of 5 or 6 in Boscombe, Bournemouth store.

What a shambles, they opened late, stuff lying around on floor to trip over and no attempt to let in those queueing longest first. Then manager was handing them out from corner display table while those from back of queue went around to other side of display and helped themselves!

It does seem to vary though, I mean most stores had one or two pallet loads of the £20 divx dvd players last month. Even though they were gone very quickly at least more people were able to get them. I think if they advertise something as limited stock they should state (if they don't already) that there might be less than 5 per store. Also a fairer token system so those who at the front of the queue get them first and its one per customer would be better so avoid mad scrambles and confrontational situations.

Yes you can record from Sky but you will have to leave your Sky box on the channel you want to record. For example you could not set the timer record for several programmes on different channels as the recorder has no way of changing channels on the Sky box.

Get Sky+, well worth it. (Sky, when are you going to bring out a Sky+ box with built in DVD recording?)
I should just point out that although the recorder cannot change channels on your Sky digibox, you can use the Sky box's 'Autoview' feature. Select the programme you want to view/record, add it to your Personal Planner and then press the red button. When the programme is about to begin, the Sky box automatically changes channel.

Got to my local Lidl store around 8:20 am this morning to try and Get one of the DVD recorders and at 9am one of the staff came out and handed a piece of paper to three people obviously this was for a DVD player as they only received 3 in stock. Why could a member of staff have not come out to tell people how many they had as I reckon most people including myself would have walked away but they decide to let everyone stand outside for around 40 minutes to then get inside and find no DVD players.
