  • I have sent my gold off today to BYOG, as recommended, so we'll see what happens, I have 46grams, anyone know what roughly this would equate to??

After reading this excellent thread I sorted out my jewellery box and found several broken necklaces, odd earings and a ring with no stone. I posted them off to www.hattongardenmetals.com yesterday. Within 24 hours I received an email telling me they were worth £162.50, and the money was paid into my Bank within 2 hours.

I had tried a local shop and was offered between £3 and £3.50 per gram for 9ct which is about half the price several online sites are offering.

    Highly recommend above site.

  • Thanks to this thread I decided to have a root through my jewellery box last week, posted it to webuyoldgold.com on Monday, and have just had a call to say that it is worth £143!!!:j
I am dead chuffed (but also a little gutted when I think of the broken chains etc that I have thrown away over the years.) I should really be using it to pay off debts, but a couple of weeks ago I lost the stone out of my engagement ring, so I think I will use the money to buy a new ring- especially since one of the things I sent off was a ring that was my (late) gran's, but I didn't wear any more. I did feel quite a pang of guilt about it, but I am sure she wouldn't mind if I had a new ring to show for it!:p

I just want to second what the person above me said. As we too just sent off old broken earrings and bangles and rings as well and was really pleased with how much we got in return which was nearly £700 as it was unexpected and added for our holiday fund.

I sent a couple of old rings and managed to get £150 for them and the service from webuyoldgold was top class. The one ring was white gold and still in pretty good nick but no longer wanted and John kept it for a week so his dealers could take a look and he managed to get a much better price than I have been offered by anybody else (online and in store).

So thanks for posting, it seems to have really helped loads of us :)

I have to say my experience of them was good too. They sent a registered envelope for me to send it off in, emailed the next day to confirm receipt and then a lovely man phoned the next day to give me a price, which was fair given the weight. They also very honestly said that I had included a brooch which was a Victorian mourning brooch and would reach far more at auction privately than they could give me and so are sending it back, registered mail. I will happily use them again and recommend them!
