After looking for recommendations of who to use to sell your gold, I decided to use Hatton Garden Metals as so many people had been happy with them. I didn't have a large amount, only 17 grams and it was mostly broken stuff.
I have hardly posted before but felt I should do this time as I sent it Special Delivery yesterday evening and got an email at lunchtime today telling me the money was in my account - and it was!!! They weighed it at 15.5g which I thought was fair enough as I didn't even know if it was all gold or the accuracy of my scales. Very happy with the experience and my £115 for a pile of junk0 -
Just wanted to add that i also decided to sell some old scrap gold and after checking this site for recommendations, i also decided to use Hatton Garden Metals. Sent my gold off yesterday by special delivery and received an email today at 11.30am saying they would pay £356 into my account today. Checked my bank account this afternoon and the money was in. I can't praise them enough and i've now got my xmas shopping money....
Before sending the gold i got a price at the weekend from ramsdens, they offered me £196 so i'm glad i decided to wait a couple of days!
I have now decided to send a braclet off, took it to ramsdens today as i wanted to get them to check if it was 18ct. They confirmed it was and offered me £98 again i declined and have posted it off to Hatton Garden this afternoon and will hopefully get £238 for it from them tomorrow.
I wouldnt have known about Hatton Garden if it wasnt for this site, so thank you to everyone who recommended them, Nearly £600 i will have made this week...woo hoo0 -
I have not read all the posts on this thread, but thought i would say some things about this selling gold lark, my friend works as a postie and he is amazed at how many people put the bag of gold into the post box in the street, i am sure that just because they send you a royal mail bag which can be insured, i am pretty certain that it is not the case if you just throw it in the box down the road.
Also we have a few stalls in local shopping centres now, but i have yet to see anybody actually go to them.0 -
With the gold prices fluctuating how do you decide when to sell? I found an interesting article on the Grants of Cornwall website. It makes some interesting points.

I have an old ring from my nan - its broken, therefore useless. But its got a stone in it - three to be exact. I think its a marquestite (sp). How do I go about finding out if it it worth anything - I beleive the gold buyers are just interested in the gold part of the ring. Do I go into the pawnshop and say this is a diamond ring, or do I go in and say how much is this worth? i feel as though if I go in with no idea, I will get ripped off:p0

Feel free to name this company that you recommend.
Are you referring to the company mentioned in the OP (webuyoldgold.co.uk) ?
This thread is a general discussion about selling unwanted gold and numerous companies have been mentioned, so it's not clear who you are referring to.
If I had to guess, I'd say you were referring to Hatton Garden Metals, but that's only because I've used them and received a similar speedy service.0 -

Well i wouldn't be jumping for joy!! Hatton garden are paying £11.30 per gram today , so you would have got £824.90, £34.90 better off. A no need to barter for a better price.
And this post is 11mths old, sounds like spam to me??????0
