    QUOTE] H SAMUEL

Hi all just to let you know i work for H Samuel and we now offer this service . just thought some may prefer to use a well know company . :) QUOTE

£4.39 a gram for 9ct!!!! That is robbery, H Samuel will sell it on and make over 60%!. £7 to £7.50 is the going rate if you cut out these middle men and deal direct (they make around 10% profit not 60%), please do not accept less than £6.50 per gram for 9ct. High street jewellers make 300% plus on new gold items. In fairness they need to make a large profit to cover their overheads.

Hatton Garden Metals agreed with the weight I sent in and I got nearly double what 2 local jewelers had offered. It was in my account next day and it was more than the rate I had originally seen on Hatton Garden Metals so it must have gone up the day I cashed in by 67p a gram. Think I got 7.61 per gram (9ct). Very happy, would use them again:j
Cherish those you have in your life because you never know when they won't be there anymore.

No matter how you feel, get up, dress up & never give up.
  • Well for Gods sake whatever you do, do not use the tv companies - they will make your £4 per gram seem like silly money - some of them are apparently only paying FIFTY PENCE per gram - thats daylight robbery!!!

There are some other scams like jewellery parties, refinery fees, etc on this scrap gold information site:

  • Used Hatton Garden Metals, sent gold Friday, money in account today. Excellent communication, would recommend.
  • Really interesting thread, thanks to all who have contributed.

I've been thinking about doing this for ages as I have had to give up my job and really need some money but feel very apprehensive. This is probably a silly question but can you only send off gold with no stones? I have a gold ring with stones in it - I assume little diamonds as it seems a bit odd to put fake stones in a gold ring. Will this still be accepted by an online company?

Like others I have a few bits of jewellary knocking around from a failed 4 year relationship so would like to rid of them (associate them with some very bad times with ex) and to make a few quid would be lovely!

I can not praise Hatton Garden metals enough, sent a packet on Sat Special Delivery, the money is in my bank account TODAY!! With an email explaining the breakdown, and what they couldn't use (thought it wasn't gold but sent it anyway!!!) £7.70 per gram.

In answer to you question, I sent a gold ring with a fake large diamond, they just weigh the gold, and do whatever with the stones.

    Good luck!

  • Just to add, with Hatton Garden Metals you do get the option of having non gold items returned to you, I assume this includes gems/stones, you will have to pay postage, around £6.50 I think, but it depends wether you think the stones are worth it.
I sent of 84g of gold on Friday, £650.00 in my account at lunch time today! Excellant service and I can't emphasise enough that you should be getting at least £7 plus per gram atm, anything less is robbery imo!
