Hi
I sold 2 lots of Broken Gold Jewellery and bits that I had not used for years, I was told that the price was highest it had been for a long time.
To give you an example of what I sold for scrap:-
Omega bracelet quite heavy but I had worn on my wrist for 4 years+ It had started not looking its best 14 carat:-
4 rings I had not used for years, broken chains, lots of odd earings and earings I did not wear any more plus odds and ends.
I got just over £500.00 which I was very happy with.
This allowed me to buy a new omega Bracelet, I did not pay for postage, the person who buys it pays the postage.
Down side Gold Jewellery is so expensive to buy new.

Sent my jewellery off late Friday afternoon. They received it this morning and I got a phone call at lunch hour to offer me £250- some of the pieces I had sent were not gold (I will kill my hubby lol) and they will return them to me. Great service, and they will transfer the money by BACS. This will help buy the Christmas pressies.Auddel0

Hi I have been thinking about this idea and have lots of rings, dont know how great they are one is from an ex as mean as it sounds I don't wear it so am going to send it but its got diamonds in and I am just wondering what that will do for the value, I don't know if the gold is so great.. Just wondered if anyone else had sent rings with stones as most of mine do have stones too and I have one silver or what I think is silver ring..do they also give you a bit more for the stones if they are diamond?
Many thanks0 -

I too used this service after seeing on MSE and I must say they were a pleasure to deal with. I telephoned them and explained what I had, the chap gave me a rough price per gram and sent out a prepaid postage packet with included insurance for upto £ 1000.00. The company emailed me once they receive the packet just to let me know it was safe. Within 1 hour I had a really friendly person on the end of the phone would offered me sightly more than quoted a couple of days earlier. I accepted and by that evening we had an extra £ 447 in our bank account for old broken jewellery that was just gathering dust in my home. So I do highly recommend their honest service.:j
So if you urgently require a quote for your jewellery, please do not hesitate to contact John Wilson on 01382 224859 or email info@webuyoldgold.co.uk

We buy old gold told me that if you have rings with stones in that look like they would sell on as rings then they will show them to various dealers that come twice a week and they will sell it to the highest bidder.

Having seen somewhere on MSE about selling scrap gold/silver I did a bit of googling and decided to use www.scrapgold.co.uk. They do not provide a free special delivery bag or anything so my cost was £4.60 but I sent 22gms of 9ct gold and a bangle of unknown carat (it turned out to be 20ct) on Thursday, and my cheque for £289 arrived Saturday. I was pleased with the price and the service. There is also www.falkosgold.co.uk whose price was better in fact but I committed on line to the former. Both take silver and I am considering selling napkin rings and my late father's ciggy case circa 1940s. Not sure ebay is the best avenue these days because of the charges incurred for selling and also pay-pal. Thanks to those who mentioned House of Williams as I thought of using them but they didn't pay as well but at least they do contact you to make an offer. I also contacted a scrap dealer who coincidentally was visiting my local town and he advised that his price would be 50p less than on-line prices due to his costs of using a hotel. Thanks again to MSE and now I have friends in the office wanting to do the same!!! Currently debt free apart :T:Tfrom flipping mortgage grrr0

Hello, thanks too to this thread, I have also made money this week from my unwanted scrap gold and silver. I weighed my bits at home to get a rough idea of what I had, looked on cooksongold.com for up to date prices for scrap, and contacted webuyoldgold.co.uk. Within a day I had their prepaid special delivery envelope, & 24 hours later they called me with a quotation. I did haggle a bit and they upped their offer by about 15%. I asked to think about the price overnight as I wasn't in a particular hurry. Gold prices went up overnight, and the following day they upped their offer again to a level I was happy with, and immediately transferred £300 into my account.
So, from an envelope of broken bits of old jewellery that have been sitting in a cupboard for years, I can now afford to throw a really lovely party for my son's 3rd birthday in a couple of weeks, where previously I had thought we wouldn't be able to do anything. Webuyoldgold also pay a commission to previous customers who refer new business to them.
On another note, some of the old bits of jewellery were linked in my mind to an old relationship, and it was very therapeutic to send them all off to Scotland and get rid of them! So thanks everyone on this thread, on several levels...
