  • I sold my old gold to House of Williams after my Mum saw the owner on BBC News TV !, he was really nice, I sent the gold in on Tuesday, on Wednesday he called me and told me how much the offer for it was, (over £800 for what I had which was odd earrings, broken chains, dented bangles etc) and paid me direct into my bank account, they were superb throughout and have a famous shop in London and after being on the BBC News I cant really see him conning people. Plus it was the best price around.

  • On a slightly different note. I have 2 pieces of jewelery that have been valuated at £600 each. This was 4/5 years ago. Does anyone know of anywhere that would possibly buy these pieces off of me? and for a decent price! I've already tried local jewelery shops.

If they are just gold (ie no stones etc) I think it goes on weight, it is rougly £5.90 per gram of gold at the moment. HTH

    18ct is double that = £11.90
    21ct triple = £17.85

Does gold have to be hallmarked to be valuable? I've got a heavy gold ring my ex from years ago bought me in Bahrain which is chunky, reddish (but not rose gold) and a yellow gold bangle, also not marked. Are these worth anything? (If I can find them!)

It doesnt have to be hallmarked but a jeweller can test it to check the carat which will then determine the value. :D
Not been here in years! Hi everyone. Make £10 a day challenge = £78.45/155

After reading this thread today i decided to look in my jewellery box. I knew i had various broken and odd bits and pieces. I had:-
    3 bracelets all broken
    6 earings odd
    6 rings
    1 chain
    Got £100
More than happy with that as i don't wear the jewellery just clogging up the jewellery box.
Pay for the tax and my new car :T

Gold values at the moment are roughly £5 per gram.

If you don't want to risk sending your gold through the post, you could always try your local jewelers etc, as most independent / small jewelers, pawnbrokers... buy gold.
