Cash for old unwanted broken jewellery

Hi,
just wanted to say a big thank you to miss_angie1 for this fab thread and to mainepuddytat for the Hatton Garden link.
Like others on here, I had a load of ear-rings, old rings and some silver bangles etc just lying around. After reading through the posts on here I thought I'd give Hatton gardens a go, I figured if I only got a little bit back for the stuff it wasnt doing anything for me at the bottom of my box.
Registered my details on Sunday, posted off yesterday Speicial Delivery (£5.85), had an email from this lunchtime and a deposit in my account by 1pm for £258.63 :T. Well chuffed :j.
Like others have said, wished I'd known earlier before binning broken chains.
Thanks again, Elaine20p Savers Challenge 2015 #64 £31.40

Hi, I am interested in making money by selling gold but I am just wondering what kind of gold you can sell. I may have some chains in my jewellery collections that have some sort of stone or diamond on the gold. Do you have to sell the gold separately e.g. just chains? or pure gold jewellery? Or could i sell gold that has something else attached to it?

I tried to get an envelope twice from webuyoldgold but no luck. I decided to try Hatton Garden Metals and sent it all off Special Delivery. I had estimated the weight by weighing on my kitchen scales, I had a couple of gold watches and some stuff with fake stones too so I could only make a guess. You print off a form and write your estimate on it. I thought mine was worth a lot less than I was offered and they found some 14ct gold in it too which they phoned me about. I had the money paid into my Paypal account and it went in the day after I posted the gold! I would warn anyone choosing Paypal that they treat it as a payment from eBay and charge commission. I wasn't upset though I still got around £200.00 more than I'd expected! Hope this helps.0

i'm thinking of sending my gold to cashforyourgold.co.uk as they seem to offer the best prices.
Anyone had experience of using them - their website seems very professional, and lots of testimonials.
They are based in Wolverhampton, and let you sell in person if you want (at the same price).
As well as my scrap gold & all the items made of pure gold, i have one items which is a beautiful necklace with a lot of design work in red, black, and white gold. Its in 22k indian gold.
anyone know where i could sell this, as it must be worth a lot more than scrap value, the labour cost on it is probably worth as much as the gold itself.0 -
Does anyone know if the above would take a platinum quarter carat diamond ring...or is it just scrap gold that they buy?0

hi
I too have been looking at cashforyourgold.co.uk and would be grateful if anyone could provide any feedback on whether they are as good as they say they are.
At the moment they seem to be offering the most per gram for 9ct gold at £7.00.
Many thanks0 -

so i used them for the first time on Monday. Not sure if i have been scammed or not.
I sent lots of ear-rings, all indian gold (22carat) on friday.
They rang me on monday saying that it wasn't pure 22k so they were doing an adjustment of 1.7g (£29) to account for the impurities. Obviously i have to take their word for it, so they may have been telling the truth, who knows?
They also said that one of the pair of ear-rings wasn't gold at all - 5.8g (£99) worth.
Again i have to take their word for it - they all looked gold to me before i sent it, but maybe it wasn't, i have no way of knowing.
Finally, they gave me £17.11 per gram which was the price on the friday when i filled in their form & sent it off. But the price actually rose on Monday, but they still gave me £17.11/gram. so not sure if they tried to sneak a few pence there.
so potentially they were very good, but also potentially they scammed me for a few bits here & there.
thats the issue i guess, there is no way of knowing whether they are genuine or not - all those testimonials for all the sites mentioned could just be from people who weren't checking the latest gold price, and hadn't weighed the gold to 0.01 grams before sending it off.0
