    Hi elfen and welcome!

Our little thread does have people asking questions but perhaps you will get more deatiled answers from the eBay board?
To respond to your questions briefly, get a pair of kitchen scales and some packaging (you can purchase mailing bags off ebay whihc are lightweight for clothes) and pop the items on to weigh them. Then take a look at https://www.royalmail.com (under personal customer) and put in the weight and it will give you a price. Add a bit on for packaging costs (we vary on this thread to how much we each charge)

It's up to you what price you start. At 99p it is free to list but be warned that your items may sell for that. Some people put on items at a starting price that they would find acceptable to sell at. Clothes are highly competitive and I don't bother anymore (sold a £500 suit for £4.99)

eBay charge fees for listing over 99p and a percentage of the final sales price and Paypal charge you a percentage for accepting each payment. Details of ffees can be found on the ebay website - type in fees.

The majority of us on this thread just need to clear clutter and make money in the process, hence my challenge to list 10 items a week.

Hope that helps. You are free to join our challenge!

Morning, for that ticket i had someone questioning how much to barcelona but i didnt know what to say?

Also ive been offered by a mate after i put it on my facebook a tenner, dont know whether to just take the tenner or take my chance with the 5 watchers on ebay?

    Any suggestions?

    thanks

It's up to you what you say to the person in Barcelona (if you have set your options to accept overseas buyers then you would have to send abroad anyway). If you check out the Royal Mail site you can work out a price. I personally do not use trackable post as I would just claim off RM if the items got lost but that is up to you.

Could you change the starting price to either £4.99 or £9.99? You might have watchers but what if only 1 bid would you be happy with that? (I'm sure that won't happen but..). I would suggest to your mate to bid himself...it may go for well over a tenner.

Thought of you guys the other day when I listed 4 baby items pulled at random out the garage that were about to lazily get put on Freecycle. Got a few bids already, so fingers crossed.

Wonder how much tat this thread has collectively shifted since it started?!
  • ;)PANDAPAWS - at your request I'm badgering you! I have listed 15 items today - so go sort some clutter and shift that tat!!!!!!!!!!

    :rotfl:you tell her hettiecarro!

Mmm, interesting question PP. mrscmr has certainly shifted loads. I have got rid of several large items so that's cleared space which I then refilled again with more tat. There's a few people who seem to have shifted quite a lot. All in all great work.

Haven't got the energy to list anything tonight as I have been trying to do my study notes as well as prepare for two essays. I am so far behind that I don't know what's worse - eBay or study!

Having a five minute breather and will then force myself to do a few listings...

Off to the dentist this morning and then on with attempting to list some items. Aiming for 20 today but that will depend on what I go for....if I had magazines that would be achievable but I have listed all of those (I think). So it's going to be baby clothes, trading cards, toys and the real tat from the tatty box.

If I get bored of that I shall move onto CDs and books on Amazon; mind due, I have been saying that for a good couple of months now and still haven't listed anything extra

Have a good everyone. Catch up later.

    Good morning All!

Does anyone have experience of selling on Ebay outside of the UK?

I am now in the Netherlands and, having been through a lot of our stuff lately, my OH and I have loads to get rid off. OK, mainly him, he's SUCH a hoarder.

Anyway, obviously want to make some money where I can, but I think it would be best to list the items on the Dutch site, as the postage costs to the UK would be ....well....just stupid!

I still have a few bits in the UK, which my Mum is taking pictures of for me and then I list and she sends out (bless her). Need to sort some more of that out as soon as possible.

So, anyone have any experience of foreign listings?

(PS. I only speak a small amount of Dutch, but I have friends who are willing to help there, if needs be).

My 4 items finish tonight, nothing on two of them, £5.50 on the book :( and £10 from my mate on the ticket, he didnt have ebay so i got my mum to bid a tenner, that way if its under a tenner ill just sort it out via ebay and then sell to my mate for £10. So thats £15.

Your mother doesn't have any details in common with you at all does she, similar name..ever used the same PC to log into ebay etc. Shill bidding will be detected, even if you did it for a genuine reason, and you face a ban. Be careful.

EDIT: You have more bids on your ticket, it is now at £10.50 and your book has gone up as well.
