It is definitely addictive but the danger happens when you stop, then it is really hard to start again.

Just looked and I now have 67 listings active. I have got a box by the side of me filled with items that I have to list tomorrow and I have managed to prepare 6 listings for tomorrow night.

Have only got one item to post but it made just under £11 so am happy as it is a start.

OH back to work tomorrow so I know that I am going to struggle this week but need to have 80 new listings (in total) done by next Sunday  And sadly I do have enough stuff to do that.

Does anybody else delay by trying to find items that will make money? I spent a good hour earlier looking through the 'want it now's in the hope of somebody wanting something that I had and despite everything that I do have, I couldn't find anything! :rotfl:

Ok, will go and read some diaries and things and pop back tomorrow to see how everybody is doing. I'm looking forward to eBay this month..strange I know.

I haven't done any new listings but I did relist a few this evening and sold something for £12.50; a pair of shoes I bought for £1 a few months ago but they hurt my feet. Bonus :)

Wow, you lucky thing. I only ever buy things that will lose money :rotfl:

Thanks Floxxie - I am usually quite lucky in that way, my mum says if I fell in a pile of sh*t I would come out smelling of roses ;):)

Most of the stuff I sell is clothes, shoes, bags - all the things I have too many of but most of which were second hand when I bought them. I wear things, buy more things and have to keep getting rid of older things to give me wardrobe space

Hey JesaRose, you have an eye for a bargain. I hope you are using this to your full advantage ;)

sdt1986, we don't 'literally' advertise what we are selling, here  As for what I am selling..you name it, I am selling it or should I say, should be selling it as I am a little slack in getting around to listing.

Today I sold some census records on disk..now how exciting is that?

Can I just mention that if they are your auctions then you are going to have problems as your postage looks excessive. A few low stars and you will be suspended due to your low feedback overall.

A standard magazine under 250g can go for 90p 1st class post, adding an additional 75p for recorded gives you £1.65. You are pricing yourself out of the market when others are using 2nd class postage at around £1.

£4 postage for an ordinary ticket that no longer has any value? That will turn up at the buyers house with a 39p stamp on it (plus the 75p recorded) and ebay will then ask them to mark your stars on how accurately or well you charged them for postage. Also if that is someone elses photo, take it down immediately in case you get reported.

Ebay can be a nightmare now and you need to be careful to look at how your listings look to the buyers. you might also want to consider whether adding recorded at 75p to items with no value is going to be cost effective.

Apologies, one of my regulars suggested I ought to offer some constructive advice to sdt1986 as they are a new ebay user and might not be familiar with all the ins and outs.

Firstly, reweigh your items and packing and change your postage costs. Kerrang is not a popular selling magazine and goes unsold more often than not so you need to be quite ruthless to get a sale on an ordinary copy, assuming it is less than 250g I would suggest offering standard 2nd class post as 99p (it will actually cost you 76p so your wrapping costs are covered). If you really want to use recorded then charge £1.75 2nd class recorded as that doesn't hit the £2 barrier and pschologically looks very reasonable. You need to be looking to sell books and media items ASAP while the listings are free, from October you won't be able to add any postage at all so it is best to sell now.

The same with the single really most people charge less than £2 postage so you don't want to stand out as people will feel ripped off. Reweigh it, recalculate and change the auction.

With the ticket you have to get that less than £1 if you can to stand a chance, at the moment £5 in total for a second hand ticket with no actual photo is going to get ignored.

The manual will probaby sell although all the ones sold so far have bene in the book category and I wonder if selling it in the manuals category might mean it is overlooked and goes for less. That one I am not sure about as I would normally go for the category in which it sells myself.

With a very high p and p cost your items are going to be almost invisible and you need to address that. Personally I would be looking to get some quick sales now especially in the media categories whilst you can add postage, just to get some feedback. Once you have some feedback you can start to sell more actively and achieve better prices.

Ebay isn't always easy you need to give yourself every advantage that you can to achieve good sales. There are some regulars on here that have achieved a great deal and they are to be congratulated and I hope that one day you get to be like them.
