Found a Tesco vacuum today, one of those reported weeks ago. Scanned at £29.9?, but had one of the bigger labels showing the price at £27.9?.

Poor red-faced lady at customer services spoke with somebody on the phone and proceeded to process a refund of £1.90-ish.

I pointed out the very big "in the unlikely event" policy on the wall behind her. She told me that her manager had informed her that because the lower price was not a "shelf edge label" but a POS label - the policy did not apply. The much smaller shelf label did state the higher price.

Ok, then I said I think I need to speak to your manager. Said manager came to see me. I said the policy says the price on the shelf, the price on the shelf was that - pointing to the big "POS". Strangely enough she agreed with me and told the CS that they would have to refund the whole amount.

Is it really HO directive that CS should try to baffle customers with confusing TLAs in order to wriggle out of complying with their own overcharging policies?? I'm sure that a lot of customers (non-M.S.E.rs perhaps) would just cave in under those circumstances :naughty:

Picked up the Stevie Wonder album in Brooklands Tesco this evening along with some other shopping and paid at a self scan.

When I spotted the misprice ;), returned to store and spoke to CS who kindly refunded me difference but refused a full refund dispite reading the big poster behind her. The reason being that as the self-scan allows me to check each price as I scan the item so it's not Tesco's fault if I don't check the stickered price and query it at the time. But as a good will gesture they'd offer to refund the difference. FYI the scanner hadn't asked me to confirm the price.

I asked to speak to the manager. She wandered off, and came back with a randomly selected colleague who confirmed the CS story (just briefed to her 2 mins earlier).

I asked again to speak to the manager, and a short phone call later a full refund offered, and CS complaining to me that the manager shouldn't override her decision and how she *never* gave full refunds to self-scanners.

*Rolls eyes* whilst listening to Stevie Wonder on my MSE'd laptop!

    Rufus.

Roy orbison still wrong sticker 9.77 charged 14.97, and shadows platinum collection 9.77 charged 14.97. CS wanted to give me the difference as in my store under the price promise its says this doesn't apply to promotions. Anyway I said the sticker was a every day low price and not a promotion he argued that I was wrong and called a manager, who said to him to give the customer her entitlement to which he had a blank look, so she said the lady gets it for free because its the wrong price. Hey ho refund and item.

I was in the long eaton(notts/derby border just for ampersound):) store this morning at the CS desk waiting for my r&rs to be sorted.A chap came up with 8 litres of whiskey&the same amount of bacardi(i think). He said he had been charged the normal price individually at the checkout, but he stated there was a huge banner outside saying 2 for £20.
