  • might seem a stupid question- but do they actually have to give r&r as it is just a tesco policy and not the law? I know what loads of u have said about ts being more expensive than r&r but do other chains get stung more for misprices by ts as they arent offering such good policy

In short - yes they do have to give r&r
The reason being that because they have advertised their own policy in writing on the web and throughout stores nationwide they have in effect made it their legal responsibility. Customers could buy from Tesco's on the strength of that advertised policy and so it legally must be adhered to. :rudolf:

Yes, I think sometimes this is right. But the majority of things I have seen are where a new offer is starting, and is sometimes being heavily promoted e.g. 'Batman Begins' this week on a special offer at 12.97 with a big new yellow SEL next to it. However the old stock has not been repriced correctly, and it scans at £14.97. See also parmesan, outdoor pork, cheese in general. This seems to me to be serious overcharging as the more obvious price attracts customers looking for bargains, who usually fail to notice that they have not paid the price they think they have, especially with per kg prices.

You mention about old stock not being repriced, this does tend to happen more on entertainment than anywhere else, the reason being that the products have so many different barcodes. For example one DVD could have anything up to 20 different barcodes, each barcode has to be loaded as a price change on the system. It is rather easy for one to be missed (it is all done centrally btw) for example if the manufacturer has not supplied head office with all of the different EAN numbers used - this is not an excuse, simply a statement of fact.

The pre priced products are slightly different. The errors there generally occur when the product starts a promotion but all of the higher priced pre promotion stock has not been sold thus resulting in a pack price that is higher than the sel price.
I did notice an underprice this week, but think if I took it to CS they would laugh at me- but if they give me an incentive to do so, I will

One would certainly hope that CS would not laugh at you.....poor show if they do.
I think that the reality is that many people wanted to get something for nothing and then have the opportunity to be really smug and self righteous while bragging about it.

Whilst being very unprofessional....god i wish i had written that sentence although the key word is Many and i should point out that it is not ALL.

And beware of offers being closed BEFORE due date - in this case 6/12/05, but shopping on 5/12/05 did not produce the heavily emphasised BOGOF.
Healthy Living Roast Chickenb slices, if anyone's interested.

i thought this offer finished on the 4th december....

nope, there is a national issue with the price scanners, the parts are no longer available for the current model of scanning system.

    Yes, they probably are coincidence!

I'm not sure why people would honestly believe that Tesco would plot such silly things as turning off price check scanners.

They are forever breaking (I know ours are up and down more than a yo-yo) and the company hasn't got the parts to update/repair them.

They are certainly not on the priority list of things to fix when they go wrong, theres normally a billion other things that need sorting first too (I should know, I've pratically spent my entire 8 hour shift replacing/swopping/repairing tills for christmas! Aaargh! :))

And I certainly haven't seen any official word to say they have been pulled - for any reason, let alone customers checking for overcharges!
Yes, I work for Mr T, but anything I say is not given as an official response or representation from Mr T, and is usually best taken with a pinch of salt, lightly toasted and served with a chardonnay or rose wine. Mmmmmmm.
