Poppy_P wrote:Hi Folks, I've been browsing for a while and had a couple of Organic Chickens for my trouble - many thanks to all who posted about those, can't believe how long it went on for!
Hubbie went shopping tonight and went for it with the Batman DVD. However, when he went to CS, the woman on there would only refund the difference as he hadn't left the store. As I said, I've been browsing here for sometime, but I haven't seen that excuse yet - was she right or wrong? And should I go back there tomorrow to push for a total R & R?
Help please ...... DH is not happy!!!
Look at the excuses list near the end of previous thread, this is a common excuse, and is total and utter bol88cks !!Drat and Double Drat, curse that Mr T excuse for not giving me a refund.
EVERY LITTLE EXCUSE HELPS in trying to get out of the R&R policy when the law has been broken, especially on high value items.0 -
Been to Tesco Hoover Building A40, this morning Batman and Little Britain scanning correctly.0

I'm only a minor player - 4 CDs so far I think - but no problems with Mr T in Chelmsford until the other night. Overcharged on a Will Young CD (expired offer), the CS person asked me to point out the mispriced SEL and on the way back to the desk explained that it was Tesco policy to refund etc etc.
When we got back to the desk she handed it to someone else, presumably more senior, to be authorised. This other CS person phoned someone to check if she could refund. Came off the phone and said, yes she would refund the £1.20 price difference! I pointed out the poster behind her head to which she said that it didn't apply to CDs because you could only refund if they were damaged. The original CS person was by now serving someone else but was clearly listening to what was happening and looking embarrassed and I didn't want to embarrass her further if I didn't have to. So I read the poster out loud (felt a complete twit, but needs must). Another quick phone call and she instructed the original CS person to refund me and stomped off. So I got there in the end!
As an aside has anyone ever found a misprice in Southend? I've never found any CD, DVD or book mispriced - clearly got their act together!

sarahg1969 wrote:Oh, and another thing: I've recently been told that I wasn't overcharged on a product, because the SEL was wrong and the price I was charged was correct!!!!!
Technically whoever told you that was correct. You were charged the price that is set on the pricing system. That is the correct price as charged in 99% of Tesco stores at the time of purchase. The problem occurs when a price integrity department fails to put out a label indicating the correct price. Therefore, you have been charged the price that you would have been charged anyway - it is simply that a failure to display the new higher price has occured. If all price integrity departments were perfect then "overcharging" as the common name has become (when really it should be mispricing - as per thread title) would not happen. Therefore, it is the price on the tills that is correct and the SELs that can be wrong.
HOWEVER, if a price displayed is lower than the price charged at the point of sale then that is misprepresentation and therefore wrong. I can see why people think that they are being "overcharged" when really they are being charged the correct price as set on the pricing system.
incidentally, isnt it strange how no one seems to mention or look for "undercharges"....and how even fewer then take these "undercharges" to the customer service desk to tell customer services....if everyone is really just "doing tesco a favour" why is there no uproar about the number of "Undercharges" as i am sure that they are as frequent as the "overcharges"Fight Poverty - Hit a tramp!
I don't exist, it is merely your imagination.

It reminds me of the classic argument about "I can choose to just not sell you this item if I dont want to".
Doing so would only cause a dent in Tesco's reputation at the end of the day - as would arguing that we could change the price at the point of sale.
Makes me laugh about the "You've not left the store yet!" excuse - trying to save money as usual I guess
(And ooooh, nice shiny new thread! lol)Yes, I work for Mr T, but anything I say is not given as an official response or representation from Mr T, and is usually best taken with a pinch of salt, lightly toasted and served with a chardonnay or rose wine. Mmmmmmm.0 -

"Now what was I saying"?0 -
