I'm not being funny mate, but you've just admitted that you know what you're doing is wrong ... surely if you know what you're doing is wrong, then there's got to be an element of theft involved there somewhere0

Maybe there is but not as much as they nick off their cutomers everyday;)
I would like to ask though how do you know they don't accept Somerfield vouchers do you work for Tesco's?
You know i can't see anything weong with it if 1 the machine has accepted the vouchers i can't be expected to know what vouchers they take and 2 an actual member of Tesco staff took a Somerfield voucher off of me as part payment as far as i know they take them if their staff accept them
Also don't supermarkets take other supermarkets vouchers?
I have seen for instance a poster up before you enter the shop in my local saying we accept Sainsbury's and another supermarkets which i can't remember now so again as far as i'm concerned they take Somerfields aswell.
And don't rhey just claim the value of the coupon back from whoever issued it and a little extra on top aswell so it's not like they are losing money but infact gaining money otherwise they wouldn't accept vouchers in the first place. It's Somerfield's that are infact more than likely losing out here;)Darren0 -

they should try typing "obtaining pecuniary advantage by deception" into google to see what the penalties are for what they are doing.Dalkirst wrote:Maybe there is but not as much as they nick off their cutomers everyday
two wrongs don't make a right.0 -
Hi, first post on this site which I now find indispensible!
I bought a digital camera at Tesco about 3 weeks ago - the 5 megapixel one at £59.95 - but have now seen it in one store at £48. I have receipt and so presumably could just go and get a refund and then go and buy a new one, but it seems a shame to return a perfectly good camera, and all the hassle for them and for me. Is there another way that I can just get them to make up the nearly £12 difference does anyone know?
I've tried to find out on their website, but couldn't see anything there. Ideas welcome!0 -

Yes for my sins I do. I'm not going to sit here and champion what a fantastic company they are though - I work for them so believe me I know how bad it is. I don't blame people here for making the most of Tesco's generous policies, fair play to them. But it seems sometimes the line is lost between making a policy work for you, and abusing it. And all abuse will do is get the policy changed.Dalkirst wrote:Also don't supermarkets take other supermarkets vouchers?

Supermarkets do take other supermarkets vouchers yes. But they are very specific, and Tesco will take Sainsbury and Asda vouchers. I think thats the same the other way as well. And its only the conditional spend ones, i.e. "Spend £50 save £5", not all the product ones etc. This is detailed on the posters.Dalkirst wrote:And don't rhey just claim the value of the coupon back from whoever issued it and a little extra on top aswell so it's not like they are losing money but infact gaining money otherwise they wouldn't accept vouchers in the first place. It's Somerfield's that are infact more than likely losing out here;).
For manufacturer issued vouchers, then yes money is claimed back and a handling fee. However, vouchers issued by the supermarket themselves ( i.e. a Tesco spend £30 save £6) are not claimed back, the loss of income is built into the accounts. There may be a specific arrangement between a supermarket and a manufacturer for a certain voucher (i.e. if Tesco issue a "50p off Pringles" in a clubcard magazine or similar.
In your case, do you honestly think Somerfield would pay out to Tesco?! Your vouchers will be thrown away and marked as a loss against the store you use them in.0 -
I would just take it back with receipt and explain situation politely and they will probably refund you the £12. If not, go to a different store and get a refund and then repurchase it.0

Unfortunately, no. Prices can go down as well as up, and the price you pay on the day you buy is it. The only way is to make out its faulty, take it back get a refund and then buy another one as you said.0 -
Bagand96 thanks for replying.I have only used the vouchers twice and the very first time was stopped by a member of staff as i said above who took a voucher so as far as i was concerned they accepted them i am not to know which supermarkets take which coupons if the machine took them. It's funny though how the machine knew not to accept some different coupons i tried that were not Somerfield.Darren0

Are cameras excluded from the refund 'if you change your mind' policy? That states that goods returned in the condition sold (ie all packaging and labels intact) and with a receipt can be refunded.0

If it's only 3 weeks old, and what is on sale now is exactly the same........he could buy the camera again, and return it [new] (for a full refund), unused, using his [old] receipt at the higher price.
This would get around the "original condition" potential problem. The 28 day "any reason" return is policy and I don't see anything wrong in using it like this if lack of common sense doesn't prevail. Crafty, but not so much so.0
