BTW, butter chickens - SEL £2.99, tickets on some £3.99, but scanned at £2.99. Hey - it looks as though they've finally got their act together!

    Hi Saban,

    Edit....

Be careful, me and a mate got some lovely beef from Yeading store yesterday and the store manager accused us of being professional scammers.

So what does that make Tesco who are doing it in virtually every store around the country?

    Hi All

    Advise needed please.

I bought 2 X-Box games tonite which are in the top 15 chart. A poster said X-Box games under £30 Top 15 and then the list of the 15. I was charged £32.97 each for them.

CS and manager refused R @ R as he says the poster meant some were under £30 and the SEL for the 2 I bought was what i paid. He gave me the 0800 number to phone tomorrow.

Is he right or am i?

    Many thanks for your help

It's an interesting one. I would guess that HO will back the store, but I also believe it to be a case of mis-selling. Take this as an example.

If Tesco placed an advert in a newpaper that said "Top 15 X Box games Under £30" and you went in on the strength of the avdert to find that some of the top 15 were priced at more than £30, you would have a case for the ASA. I can't see that having a poster in the store saying the same thing is any different.

Would certainly be worth a call to Trading Standards if you get no joy.
  • I bought 2 of these games yesterday and was charged 32.97 CS said they would just refund the difference, so OH rang Head Office while we were there and they said your absolutely right and you should get a full r & r, OH then had to give his phone to CS for head office to explain to them, they then gave a full R & R

I posted a thread in the mispriced forum with regards to this. The CS lady and someone who would be a manager in 3 weeks said that I had misread the poster (although it clearly stated Xbox games under and then listed the top 15 games) and said I could call HO if I wanted the next day. As we were walking away from the poster the person who will be manager pointed out the actual manager of that department and explained to him the scenario. He told the CS lady to issue me full refund and games and he told the man about to be manager to remove the poster. He himself went on the phone to someone (other tesco stores in area or HO?).

I would say that we are right - they have a poster inferring that the top 15 games for Xbox are under 29.?? (not from) If it is the same poster that I saw it also says that PS2 games were under 29.??, Xbox 360 from ??.?? and PSP games from ??.?? The prices for all of these were correct and the error only lay with the original Xbox games, the SEL and the poster!

Thanks for all the advise, re the X-Box games. Long story but after an hour, 4 calls to CS (one by the manager) I was finally given a full R @ R as a matter of 'goodwill' The store still saying they are right as SEL correct and poster is a 'guide'!

Anyway left with a refund but felt like i was some sort of criminal, so think i would have been better off just getting a refund than all the hassle. (This was Littlehampton store BTW)

That would be me then !!, an experiment to see how much a couple of us could collect within 2 weeks, I have removed the signiture of posts now after last night which consisted of 3 extras and 4 normal stores, the figures shown on the posts were for my r&r only (there were two of us doing it), after last night the total in two weeks came to just over £600 we took no more than 3 of any product, most case only took one, but saw within those two weeks the price of meat different from store to store, even such things like the 300g jars of coffee one store this week was £5.18, another £4.43 and the third was £2.21 for the same item in one night.
That is the experiment over and after now we are turning the tables the next thing is to see how many products we can put into a shopping basket, go to CS and say 'noticed that these were priced higher than on the shelf or poster price', then add up a fantasy r&r price list - dont worry will still post finds on here

Or maybe Fez, you could vary things a little and look for things that you are being undercharged on and pass that information on to the customer services people, after all, its a favour to Tesco, pointing out all of these wrong prices!!

lol, LOVE IT, should have two baskets and that will keep them busy at CS, one for overcharges and one for under charges, I did the other week point out an undercharge, the baby wipes where you got more back on one pack than you paid and they was not interested at all, have pointed out to CS service somethings where a week later the SEL is still in place, very few seem to like a problem that they are not dealing with at the time

Whilst in Tesco just now I picked up a couple of mispriced packs of Sirloin steaks. Following behind me was a member of staff fixing yellow labels all over the meat section. The labels read:

    "Customer Information

    Unit price is used as
    a guide only"

She must have fixed around 20 of these on the one aisle.

I asked her what it meant and she said it meant that the prices were a guide only. I asked again what that actually meant and she said that the price you pay is the price on the label. I asked her why have the SEL's then and she became very agitated and marched off!

Think this means the end of the road for R+R on mispriced meat...
