anyway we both got r+r, although not sure if it was worth the aggro.
Dudes,
I've said it before - you've got to be calm in the face of the more annoying CS staff.
The price per KG does genuinely throw some staff - I had to talk this under-grad part-timer through it one weekend.
If they don't get it - point to the "If Things Don't Add Up" and tell CS that it's "price on the packet or shelf label" - in this case the shelf label - and compare the two prices - conclusion - you've been overcharged - R&R - meat time!
If you still get nowhere simply ask for management.
Keep it cool, calm, rational and polite - 9 times out of 10 you'll be treated the same way - although granted you do get the occasional CS Dude that just wants to argue............
Take her easy Dudes.

So by abusing it, a few have made short term gains but have effected the removal of a policy that once benefitted the majority of genuine customers.
A greedy few spoiling something for the majority - seems to be what this world has come to, sadly, but even more sadly this is showing up more and more on MSE
I agree completely. There is a terrible amount of greed around these freebies, etc these days0 -
Whether taking advantage of a store that takes advantage BY overcharging customers or not - my motive is simple when I had a genuine overcharge I had a major row with CS staff who simply took the !!!!!! as far as I was concerned - now I am as polite (but firm) as a mouse and I take the !!!!!! back by R&Rs to the tune of hundreds of pounds - that is my revenge. How dare they swindle me over a few pennies then turn around and argue and insinuate and insult.
For me its as simple as that. If you get treated badly over a few pence then why not get treated well AND have a few hundred pounds instead ironically by those very same staff?0 -
I have told every I know who shops at tescos & none of then knew about the r & r policy
A few knew about the £2 back on a gift card at asda
I bought a t shirt AT ASDA in the sale which i was overcharged by 50p for. The lady at cs just gave me the 50p back when i said "i thought it was £2 if you were overcharged" she got in a huff & said "i was just trying to save you the time!"
So keep spreading the word & stick up for your rights

tmcgregg wrote:got my first r +r today at becton extra store, joint of topside british beef, sel £5.98kilo
packet price, £6.22 kilo.
cs said i had not been over charged as price on pack was the same as the receipt.
i tried to explain the difference in kilos but was told i was stupid!!!!!. eventually after waiting over 10 minutes she walked towards meat section, i followed to show her and she said she wasn't going there as she was right. i made her look she couldn't understand what i was saying and told me to "stop being silly, take a tablet man". i was gobsmacked!!! she walked off. went back to cs desk meat manager turned up, showed him the sel and he agreed i was over charged. As we returned to cs desk a massive arguement had broken out between my frined and 2 cs ladies as the first one had returned and started slagging me off to the other cs lady forgetting my friend was standing there. saying things like "we were only trying to screw tesco for a fiver" etc.
friend and cs had massive row with F, C and B words included, had to calm her down, said to meat manger your staff arent very polite, as cs lady walked off.
anyway we both got r+r, although not sure if it was worth the aggro. i made a point of not being rude but instead got a load of abbuse. have complained to head office.
if you live in east london go to beckton and get the beef.
anyway at least i got my r+r
Didn't they take the SEL off then as i'm going to be over that way tomorrow morning.I once got some R=R's in beckton and was told i couldn't have them by some geezer in a suit who said they have to take them all off the shelf and send them back to HO:rolleyes:
I just gave up and said well are you going to take your poster down to which he replied yes but it never was in all the time i've been back in there:mad:Darren0 -
I had no idea about this policy until this thread and have been overcharged several times and gotten the difference back.
While I would never deliberately look for an overprice, it's great to know that the policy exists, so the next time I check my receipt and see an overprice I can get what I'm suppose to."I did then, what I knew then. And when I knew better, I did better"0 -
I don't think we should get at people for being greedy. At the end of the day, Tesco alters it's prices constantly. It does this to make us think we are getting a good deal, i.e. Fosters 24 pack will be £12. For a small period of time it will go up to £16. Then when they reduce it to £8 they can say there's 50% off. All this requires the staff in the offices to be up to date with prices and I appreciate that sometimes they are not. Tesco and the CS staff should not be moaning at their own policy. They know that they risk action from Trading Standards if they mis sell products, yet a lot of thier business comes from these 'half price get it quick offers', hence why they give you the product free. They should just stick to basic prices.0

go4it, thats a load of rubbish I'm afraid.
Tescos alters its prices constantly just like every other retailer practically in the world who doesn't intentionally want to go bankrupt. Varying reasons such as manufacturer offers, competing supermarket offers/prices, stock needing to be shifted quicker, to generally attracting customers mean retailers HAVE to constantly keep updating their prices. They have no choice, it is not their 'fault' they do it, if they didn't they would not be in business.
The 'trading standards' arguement has been done to death. They won't be touched unless they're intentionally trying to overcharge, and 95% of 'overcharges' mentioned here are very, very loose as you are all aware they are overcharged even before you step into into the shop, and you know exactly what obscure outdated SEL/promotion you are looking for. I do agree some are questionable, like how CD posters are wrong every week (Tescos Leyland never have wrong CD prices however) but I'm sure this isn't the stores fault, and we all by now know we're going to be charged the SEL price, not the poster price.
But, as a few people are catching onto now, a few greedy people who have completely and absolutely took the mick out of the policy (with people bragging about how much they have swindled out of Tescos, often running into much more than my entire shopping bill for the month) are dangerously close to ruining it for everyone.DONE: Great North Run 09!
