It has probably been moved to the discount vouchers and codes section. Hope this helps. http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?p=1389227#post1389227

I while back, I had one cs assistant who attempted something similar with me with a bunch of books 6 in fact, all 6 were stickered - 3 of one and 3 of the other

Personal opinion but I do think that's taking the pi$$ somewhat. Fair enough if you go up to CS with one (perhaps two) items that you have been overcharged on but the chances of it being three items of the same thing (particularly a book) is unlikely and the CS is bound to be suspicious, think you're taking the mick and knowing that you knew fine well you were going to be overcharged.

Yes, the policy exists and we do take advantage of it with the information on here but I wouldn't rip the !!!!!! out of it like that. As I said - just a personal opinion.

  • I while back, I had one cs assistant who attempted something similar with me with a bunch of books 6 in fact, all 6 were stickered - 3 of one and 3 of the other which were sealed but all the stickers were on top. She insisted on seeing the books which I showed and started to imply I put the stickers on - in fact, the book person had just put out the books straight from boxes ....er whilst I had just picked them up. I then got fed up of her as she kept on trying on a refund of the difference so after saying why can't you just refund me? I said right, I want to see a manager and swiftly reported her for trying to swindle me. She did not like it one bit when her manager asked her why she'd offered to refund the whole amount and charge me back again at the right price? *silence* - sneaky or what as then I would not have been overcharged..... as my receipt would then show the right price. Luckily I had a very patient man behind me in the queue who was clearly well amused and found the show amusing somewhat and just watched in amazement how I got to keep books and was refunded as well - clearly explaining their policy to them but making sure he found out as well!

NB: Well I have 3 nieces so hence the multiple of 3 - but anyway, the policy is 6 maximum which I always adhere to.

I bought inside I'm Screaming yesterday as it had £8.97 on the cover. After keaving the checkout I realised I had been charged £10. Customer service first said I could have a full refund, then they said I couldn't because my book was the only one with a sticker on. The assistant started picking at the sticker saying that someone had stuck it on, impyling that I had done it! How rude! I got a £1.03 refund. Looking at the policy, I should have got a full refund. I've written a letter to the store to ask why I wasn't given a full refund, and have sent one to Head Office as well. Failing a decent response, I'll contact Trading Standards. I am really annoyed that a company like Tesco can't sort out pricing. From discussions on here it is clear that there have been mispricings on that book around the country. What cheek to label the mispricing as 'someone stuck a sticker on it'. They thought they were doing me a favour by refunding £1.03!

Good luck Go4it. All the stock on the shelf of that book were stickered £8.97 at the store I just got a refund at (Fulbourn, Cambs).
  • Following on from go4it's post
I found two books at Burscough recently On The Run & after midnight which scanned at higher prices

They both had the 3.73 stickers on & there were several others on the display
I said to ca lady before she left to look at the shelf there were lots with stickers on
when she got back she tried to say there weren't any others with stickers on but i could not see the rest being bought in such a short space of time
I got them both refunded but she wasnt happy

I found a little britain yesterday at southport
When i showed the ca lady were I found it. The only one left didnt have the sticker she muttered something about kids playing with stickers but i got a full refund & kept the book

so there is a huge lack of consitency & the trend is to imply you have been moving stickers!!

They still had the pet shop boys at southport yesterday with 6.97 sticker scanning at £8 but i left it for someone else as i got one from there last week

it was inevitable they would sooner or later, and is hardly at all surprising considering the amount of abuse there has been of the policy. They will probably just refund the difference like other supermarkets do.

So by abusing it, a few have made short term gains but have effected the removal of a policy that once benefitted the majority of genuine customers.
A greedy few spoiling something for the majority - seems to be what this world has come to, sadly, but even more sadly this is showing up more and more on MSE
