If they do decide to withdraw the policy, I would imagine they will be getting reported to Trading Standards instead a fair bit more.

It's also terribly short-sighted to assume that the few members of this forum are a significant percentage of their about 20M customers (30% market share). If they change it, it's because thousands of people are getting overcharged and refunded.

I did notice the other day that they've now got a system which allows them to report their refunds electronically, instead of the old way of writing bar-code numbers on refund slips by hand. That has to make it easier to make price corrections centrally.

i do my grocery shopping on line most weeks, and this week ordered something with 'an internet exclusive price' of 99p , but these items came through on my printout at £1.25 each. when i rang up to check the price i was told that they would refund the difference; when i quoted the r&r policy, i was told that didn't apply online, but she wasn't going to argue for the sake of £2.50!!
I'm in the £2.00 club! terramundi cracked open Christmas Day £748 :p Started a new one Boxing Day!

it was inevitable they would sooner or later, and is hardly at all surprising considering the amount of abuse there has been of the policy. They will probably just refund the difference like other supermarkets do.

So by abusing it, a few have made short term gains but have effected the removal of a policy that once benefitted the majority of genuine customers.
A greedy few spoiling something for the majority - seems to be what this world has come to, sadly, but even more sadly this is showing up more and more on MSE

Looks like we all get tempted from time to time though.

well done on your detective work, Tony, it must be very gratifying for you that your search through my posts yielded the result you wanted. Too much time on your hands, I guess.

I have had a mispriced item from Tescos, and had you asked I could have saved you the time trawling through to find it. I was not out specifically looking for that item though, unlike many on this thread. It was as part of my normal shop which I noticed was priced incorrectly (as I too now check my receipts far more carefully than I used to) and the fact that I got one joint of beef refunded some 5 or so months ago hardly makes me "tempted" to be an abuser of the policy as you imply.

"some" suggests more than one, "found" suggests one was looking as opposed to simply overcharged, perhaps you "found" it on your receipt.

"roasting joints" again suggests more than one.

    Apologies I'm clearly wrong.

That is true but you helped others take advantage of it by posting on here so you obviously support the forum and what it does?
I don't agree with buying 5 of everything or things that you don't actually want, not becuse it damages Tesco but because it's a waste and there is no point.

Yesterday i had two books both stickered £8.97-scanning at £10 & £12.97,today at 11.45am the stickered books were still on the shelf.I was tempted this morning to get the same two books for relatives birthdays but i resisted. Some might say i would be taking advantage, but imho if MR.T cant be bothered to correct errors that have already come to there attention then they deserve everything they get. There was 5(gloria hunniford)books remaining on the shelf after i took one yesterday, today there was two.

got my first r +r today at becton extra store, joint of topside british beef, sel £5.98kilo
    packet price, £6.22 kilo.
cs said i had not been over charged as price on pack was the same as the receipt.
i tried to explain the difference in kilos but was told i was stupid!!!!!. eventually after waiting over 10 minutes she walked towards meat section, i followed to show her and she said she wasn't going there as she was right. i made her look she couldn't understand what i was saying and told me to "stop being silly, take a tablet man". i was gobsmacked!!! she walked off. went back to cs desk meat manager turned up, showed him the sel and he agreed i was over charged. As we returned to cs desk a massive arguement had broken out between my frined and 2 cs ladies as the first one had returned and started slagging me off to the other cs lady forgetting my friend was standing there. saying things like "we were only trying to screw tesco for a fiver" etc.
friend and cs had massive row with F, C and B words included, had to calm her down, said to meat manger your staff arent very polite, as cs lady walked off.
anyway we both got r+r, although not sure if it was worth the aggro. i made a point of not being rude but instead got a load of abbuse. have complained to head office.
if you live in east london go to beckton and get the beef.
anyway at least i got my r+r

    I've been Money Tipped!
With situations like the above, if CS don't understand I normally use the phrase.."I'm getting less meat for my money due to the difference". If they're still confused I use an eg with £2 per kg and £1 per kg. For £2 I get either 1 kg or 2 kgs depending on the price. Then I tear my hair out if they still insist I'm mad!

Got overcharged on coffee today at Stockport £5.18 not £4.43 on sel [was going to post on misprice but someone has already beaten me], anyway took it to CS then stood back as I had lit the blue touch paper. Explained about the sel and acomcanied CS lady to shelf, told that I had not been overcharged as sel said £4.43, 75p off RSP that means the flashed ones. I replied sorry but where does it say that I will exchange them for the lower priced ones [no mention of even difference back] trotted back to desk where I politely pointed out the if thingd dont add up. I have no intention of doing that she said I will get a team leader, went throught eh whole senario again with the team leader who said but this stack does not have a price on [shelf split in 2] ah but that does and that is where I got the coffee from they say £4.43, she then moved them and said now they dont. At which point I had lost the will to live and asked for a Manager. Stay there and I will get one. So stood still and waited and waited, very nice manager came and backed up her staff, no overcharge 2 different products one £4.43 the other £5.13. Ok I said my mistake could you please show me where the £5.13 jars are then as I cannot see a sel. Give her a R&R came the reply. I smiled and said thank you are you going to remove all the ones with the wrong price.
