some of the posts on this thread are getting a bit confrontational and overheated. Can I please remind everybody:

    BE NICE TO OTHER MONEYSAVERS
Remember, MoneySaving should be fun. Everyone using these boards is here for the same reason, to save money. The site’s motto is “Please be nice to other MoneySavers”. It should go without saying, but please remember that when using this forum. Are we doing this again? About once a week we have this same debate. Point made, again that a few people are not comfortable with this morally. However, I think it's safe to say that the majority on here are comfortable with it, and are not about to give up reading this thread on the basis of reading a few objections. Point made, move along.

    Everyone's a winner here.
Tesco's get informed of their misprices, which means (or should mean) that less of their customers get overcharged, AND they avoid getting a large Trading Standards fine.
We the misprice hunters, who are not employed to check Tesco prices, get a nice little bonus out of it, whatever it may be.

It's not illegal, and everyone comes out ahead. (For the record I wouldn't buy a dozen of each item, and haven't done so far, I gave the free TV I got to the children's ward at my local hospital.)

Tesco WILL NOT remove the policy, as a) that is tantamount to admitting they can't price correctly and b) a lot more misprices would get reported to Trading Standards if they did.
  • Some one has mentioned that by purchasing the goods after you have scanned them is the same as obtaining goods by deception, well a few points here:-
You can not decive a machine, so no deception
For an act of obtaing goods by deception there has to be a theft. Where is the theft.

I know the person is not correct by saying its the same as obtaining goods by deception.
Watch out, you never know who is about.

Incidentally, don't lie on here to try to save face. You've never pmed me in any way, shape or form. I don't need help from you.

I publicly apologise then, i have previously been abused by a poster and i offered an olive branch and help by way of a pm. I mistakenly thought it was you.

    Once again, i am sorry.

    Totally agree, Hokers.

As for your last point, don't you realise that Tesco only have the R&R policy in order to provide exceptional customer service??!! It's got nothing to do with Trading Standards/being fined/bad publicity! ;)
In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?

No worries. Don't know who it was, but it certainly wasn't me. In fact, I defended you on another of these Tesco threads a while back. I said that staff morale in stores is very low, etc, etc.

maybe not remove it but change it to just give you back the difference like other supermarkets do.

I can't see how they would be any more prone to a) or b) than any other place in the case of an incorrect price. As long as you are charged the price as shown, all they have to do is give you back the amount over that price.

As has been shown in cornwall, Tesco are fined for false advertising regardless of the policy and have had the bad publicity to go with it....so if it is a get out clause, it aint working.

  • I for one don't usually just go in and buy a "mis price". I shop at Tesco's 2 or 3 times per week if there's a CD that I fancy I just drop it in with the rest of my shopping. CS treat you much better when you've done some shopping and then just happen to notice that you've been overcharged.

I have searched but I cannot find out - what is R&R ? It is obviously something to do with refund but what.

Also where in store can I find the policy?
