Tesco misprice policy discussion area II

I got my first R & R today after 4 visits to Tesco. Got best of the 80's. SEL AND PRICE ON CD SAID 9.87, CD CHART SAID 7.97. HAD A BIT OF AN ARGUMENT AT FIRST AS OFFERED REFUND OF DIFFERENCE BUT I GOT THERE IN THE END. THE CS ASSISTANT REMOVED THE SEL PRICE AND ALL THE CDS WHILE I WAS THERE AND TOLD SOMEONE OF THE PRICING ERROR ON THE CD CHART.
I THEN WENT TONIGHT TO ANOTHER TESCO. TWO TYPES OF MACKRAL (unsure of spelling) were wrong with the difference of 1p. I put in 10 packs! HOwever, I then came across the same mistake in this Tesco with the CDs and bought the remaining 2 left. I proceeded to put the mackrel back as I thought i Might have an arguement about the 1 p pricing error.
i will be going into Tesco the day of or the day after the chart changes as i think this is the best time to find mistakes.
Would anyone else have bought the mackral for a 1p difference????
A couple of days I saw a list of Tesco misprices that someone kindly compiled but I cant find it. Can anyone help me with finding this link?Just about to give up!0 -

The price charged at the till is the correct price set by Tesco head office. This is the price charged in most tesco stores at the time of sale. The label is an indication of price however, if the label is wrong then the price shown is the price that should be charged at the point of sale. Customer service do not up the cost of anything, they simply inform the department that deals with labelling who put out the label that shows the correct price as set on the Tesco system by head office.
In summary, the store(s) that have misprices have failed to change the label that represents either the increase in price or the end of offer when the price on the system changed.
With respect this isnt always the case,E.g. I bought the thelma and louise dvd the other day and it went through the till at 19.99, which is way over the set price of 5.97.........I agree that some people are extremely greedy , however Tesco make a huge profit each year and i dread to think how many people walk out of their store each day having been over charged for items.“Love yourself first and everything else falls into line. At what point do you query? Do you have to put the money up front, or can you query once the item has been scanned?
What do you all say? It's nice to be nutty but's more important to be nice0 -

If you query at the time the item is scanned, then you won't be overcharged as the till operator will probably ask the supervisor to overwrite the price. Also the huge queue of disgruntled customers will form behind you as the supervisor sends someone off at random to check the SEL.
I normally only discover misprices when I check my receipt on leaving the store, revist the shelf to check the SEL is as I remembered it (taking a picture with my camera phone in the process), then visit the CS to ask for an R&R.

Im new to posting on money saving expert. been reading posts on tesco and boots and have managed to get loads of freebies. thanks everyone keep up the good work!
I used to work for tesco (left about 2 months ago) so if anyone has any questions to ask feel free to post them here and i will try to answer them.
As far as farmfoods vouchers go in my experience they wont be accepted at the checkout and wont work on self scan as they dont have barcodes0 -
spa2k wrote:So the incorrect poster is taken down and so that the prices being charged are correct and still you complain?? When the poster was taken down, the SEL price is the only one displayed and therefore you are being charged as per the displayed price.
So, despite the fact that you/someone has scanned the product to find out the price that you/someone KNOWS that you will be charged when you go through the till you still claim ignorance and ask for an R&R....its the same as obtaining goods by deception,(the argument being that you knew the price you would be charged when you scanned the item either at the self scan tills or at the instore scanner).....wonder what law you can quote to get out of that one?
So you have queried the reasoning for this with the Tesco policy department.....i thought not!! The reason that Tesco has this policy is to provide another exceptional service to its customers.....not to avoid trading standards...
No, I think you are wrong there. Surely the poster prices are the prices that should be charged in store - I for one go straight to the poster to see what offers they have on in a particular week. Their offers that week are as per the poster but when their tills overcharge you they just take down the poster or vandalise it ( see earlier posts ) in order to continue overcharging their customers.
I knew that they would have a sale on their cd's shortly after Christmas - things like Essential Hits, Euphoria and Magic Fm - style compilations have a short shelf life. I bought 8 cd's that week and was overcharged on 5 of them! It is obvious that the prices on the poster were the prices that should have applied - it was a Jan sale! But what do they do - take the poster down, as they have done for the 2 weeks since ( or vandalise it to hide the prices ).0 -
Hi, this is my first post but I've manged to get a few misprices from Tesco in Slough. Including the Dyson Hoover and some beef. Today I went in there and was followed around the whole store by security and memebers of staff and got approached by a manager type person and got told I was having no more refunds and was not allowed to photgraph prices on the shelf. Not happy at all. :mad:0

It may be set by head office but then it's there mistake as demonstrated when the next week the cd is actually sold for the price it was on the poster for, as was the case with jem and charlotte church, so you can't say that's exceptional service when they leave it a week to sort the problem.[FONT=georgia, bookman old style, palatino linotype, book antiqua, palatino, trebuchet ms, helvetica, garamond, sans-serif, arial, verdana, avante garde, century gothic, comic sans ms, times, times new roman, serif]A bank is a place that will lend you money if you can prove that you don't need it

As i have explained before, the posters are printed externally and therefore when prices change at short notice, or if incorrect information is sent to the printer, these cannot be changed at short notice. Thus the prices on the poster were / are wrong. I cannot defend those stores that leave the prices without checking them, it should be a basic requirement.
Incidentally, the poster isnt there to highlight offers, it is there to give the various chart positions, it just happens that there are some prices mentioned on it (albeit that they are usually the wrong prices!!)It may be set by head office but then it's there mistake as demonstrated when the next week the cd is actually sold for the price it was on the poster for, as was the case with jem and charlotte church, so you can't say that's exceptional service when they leave it a week to sort the problem.
I totally agree, it is a mistake, and it is unacceptable when it is not corrected. I do not make tesco policy and if it is the decision of head office not to reduce the prices to match the poster then there is nowt i or anyone instore can do about it. I cannot defend the indefensible however. If the poster is not checked instore then the relevant store should be shown the error of its ways however that may be.....Just to turn it around for a moment, if the price you were charged was lower than advertised on the poster, would you insist on paying the poster price????????myusernamestaken wrote:Actually, I consider being accused of fraud to be more insultingFight Poverty - Hit a tramp!
